Reams has a traffic light, finally, and no state trooper to direct at rush hours.
I'm really hoping the Reams/Ficquette/Summerlake Park Blvd curve is next on the improvement schedule. If they can take care of that curve and install either a light, roundabout, or an actual "T" with stop signs it will basically make that road done as far as safety goes. Traffic volume is another thing but that curve is the last piece of the puzzle that needs figured out. Overall though that whole road system has improved vastly since I moved down here.

The Summerlake intersection is so bad. I live just around the corner off of Seidel (and before that in Summerlake itself), and it's intolerable around rush hour. I work from home, but if we want to go anywhere, we have to make plans to drive around it or leave earlier. And people are idiots and do stupid things there. My understanding is that the county recently wrapped their traffic study, but no changes coming until late 2019.

The only study they needed to do was to stand at that intersection for 10 minutes during rush hour (which is comical to me that a rural road has a rush hour). It's almost as if the county refuses to believe the roads need improvement any more than a mile at a time. It was just a few years ago that the stretch of 535 between Summerport and Winter Garden Village was only two lanes. Can you imagine if it still were with that new highschool that just opened up? The whole area feeding into Disney north of property needed expanded years ago that by the time they do get done with it, it will need expanded upon even further.

Understand that in some cases, there are statutory limitations they have to deal with. I don't know what the laws are in Florida, but when I worked for a city in Ohio, I found it staggering that you couldn't even install a traffic light unless certain conditions were met, and I'm sure it's no different here. But it's funny that you mention construction by the mile, because clearly Summerlake was designed to be four lanes, and Seidel is too, but they stopped to literally leave the last mile as two lanes for now. You can see with the new house construction on Reams where the setback is absurdly far from the current road.

I understand all that and the amount of work needed to accomplish so little sometimes. My post was more out of frustration since it can seem obvious to a resident the expansion and need for better roads well before you actually hear of the issue raised to the local government. Signs like what you point out with roads ending like that are evident all over the central FL area and especially the WG/Windermere area. The 535 four lane ending at the new football field will eventually continue to the intersection mentioned above when that new intersection happens hopefully.
