Orlando theme parks reduce hours ahead of hurricane Dorian

This has been a bad storm for the theme parks, not because of its potential for damage, but because it has kept hundreds of thousands of tourists guessing on a storm that will do its worst four days later than initially expected. We did Epcot Friday, DHS Saturday and MK yesterday, and it was the least busy that I've seen it since Irma.

Win for the Putz', but for the local parks it has to be a huge headache; not just logistically for safety reasons, but for the thousands of guests who spent thousands of dollars and traveled thousands of miles to get there for their one special week, or day.

We once got trapped out to sea on a Royal Caribbean cruise during Hurricane Dennis. Extra days on a cruise ship might sound like fun at first, but not when you consider that the ship is stocked for your cruise time, and not much more. After the first "bonus day", the excitement was tempered.

Hope the forecast stays the same and all is safe in Orlando.

Small inconvenience compared to those in the Bahamas but still disappointing for tourists.

Time to pull down the castle turrets. ;)

Our cruise ship left us -- and about 100 others on day trips -- in Progresso due to an oncoming hurricane. We had to bus across the Yucatan to meet up with it at the next port. When we embarked again, we found out our trip was probably the better option.

Not to mention This weekend is the first weekend of HHN @ Universal .How many Changed their plans because they thought Orlando was directly in the path of this storm .Normally the outside theming is up by now (including outdoor stage by Mels) They only have Thursday to get that out and up (assuming rain and wind today)

I'd look at it as being slightly inconvenienced by playing it safe with a dangerous, unpredictable storm.

I have 2 different friends that changed Orlando plans due to the storm with mixed results. One was planning on arriving at Disney Monday and they moved their flights and rooms up to Saturday with plans to ride out any closures at their resort. Their gamble paid off pretty well. Another friend cancelled a short kidless Universal/Disney trip in 2017 because of Irma. They finally rescheduled for this past weekend to coincide with a work trip and cancelled again because they were worried about not being able to fly home on Monday. Their gamble didn't work out so well.

The weirdness this time was all of the stalling. The initial projections were to see it land early Sunday, and we finally started to feel it late Tuesday. The rain last night where I am was no joke.
