Orlando's municipal planning board unanimously rejected a proposal that would have brought a new theme park to Orlando. Many residents showed up to voice their concerns about the plan.

Bummer! There is another empty plot of land nearby, that is larger, and further away from any residential areas, but I have no idea if it is for sale or able to be developed. Maybe they can try to build there, or maybe find another plot of land to build on. I would love to see this park open sometime in the future. It looks like a winner to me.
Shock or not? Always seemed like a bizarre idea to me.
Nothing to see here. Move along.
Maybe they needed a toothless executive to drive the pitch home? Oh - wait no that didn't work...
As much as the plan and the people behind it scream "Shady! Set up for failure!" I am kind of surprised that it didn't get approved. The noise reasons are valid, but the traffic issue...not so much. If you're familiar with the area you know that there wouldn't be any entrance to the property from the Tangelo Park neighborhood, and the impact on residents trying to exit onto I-Drive from Municipal or Grandnational Drives would likely be minimal. Not to mention the neighborhood is also directly linked to Kirkman and Sand Lake Rd.
If the OTP developers appeal and it moves on to the City Council, I would anticipate it being approved.
Keep in mind, that doesn't mean I think the park will succeed, or even actually open up, but I fully expect the Council would approve the project on appeal.
*Also, if anyone is interested, doing a little digging on the plot of land and companies involved has some slightly interesting results (the basis of my opinions on the project).
Orlando has more than enough non-theme park attractions. This park would have siphoned off them, nothing more.
This would do great in Orlando if they went about it in a different way.... the location, the attractions and the size...
I can;t say I'm disappointed. The idea was a bit foolish. nothing more then an adventure zone but with coasters.
