For this year's Halloween Horror Nights festivities, Universal Orlando promised an "in-your-face" advertising campaign, with billboards the company vowed would seek new levels of provocativeness. No thanks, some drivers are saying. One group, called Metro Orlando Mommies, says Universal has gone too far. The Mommies are pushing to get the company to tone down the ads, particularly the violent, sometimes bloody images.

Apollo, what I am trying to say is that America has gotten way too Politically correct as in not to offend someone. We go out of our way to to offend any group and yet we do offend everyone at some point or another. What line has been crossed by the billboard none as far as I am concerned. All it was saying, Mary Mary Mary with a CAD drawing of someone that was breaking the door down who had no eyes. That's not offensive at all but trying to draw attention to Universal Haunted Nights. If it had a picture of a nude lady getting cut up. That's over the line. The more attention is drawn to this the more likely it will draw huge crowds. What offends me is idiot mothers breaking in thier kids who are under 18 to a r rated movie that has alot of killing in it.
Hrrmmm...provocative! :) I do think that the world has gone a little too PC and that people everywhere are likely to be offended by something or other that they should just lighten up about and deal with it. I CAN see why some mothers might be upset by the images on the billboards and the reaction their children have to these ads. I understand that, but really, are these worse than anything else out there? And just because these ads scare a few kids, what is the big deal? Poltergeist scared the bejesus out of me just from the commercials for it when it came out. I wasn't scarred for life from it though. My friend sees the clown from IT and gets the willies to this day, but she isn't damaged or scarred psychologically...I mean, come on people. Do we really need to coddle our children like this? I get the concern, but...perhaps because I don't have kids I don't get it, but it really doesn't seeem like anything to create such a fuss over.
I personally am glad that Universal continues to be one of the more ADULT-centered Halloween celebrations in an amusement park, and I really hope to get down there in the next few years for my second-favorite holiday. I kinda feel like, "Why does every Halloween themed event in a park have to be kid-friendly?" Universal is doing something DIFFERENT, and I really hope that they continue on their present course.

But who are we to say where the line is? Why is one picture okay and the other isn't? Is it just because the majority says so?
Just because we draw a line somewhere doesn't mean everyone draws it in the same place.

It appears all of them look like that, just in different shapes/sizes depending on the medium and billboard size. I think if that's the only one, this is a little bit of an over reaction. No blood, no guts, nothing that "bad".
^That and the similar ones that said "Mary Mary Mary" were the only ones I saw inside or outside the park. They're pretty spooky what with the whited-out eyes. Then again, the event is SUPPOSED to be scary, and inappropriate for young kids.

Nah... this was the plot of an episode of WKRP back in 1978. They couldn't afford advertising, so they called the news media to cover the people protesting at the studio. Karl Rove is just a poor man's Les Nessman.
