Local opposition has started to form against a quarter-percent sales tax that would help the county purchase land to lease for the new Bell's amusement park.

I didn't realize it was only 1/4 of 1%. That means it will cost an extra $100 for every $40,000 spent on taxable sales.

Told ya its gonna be a problem and mostly from the way its being done. If that county can't pony up some cash to purchase a couple hundred acres in middle of nowhere OK without at tax increase there is a problem, They probably already own a couple parcels that large.

The problem isn't a dime here or there, It when they add a 1/4 for schools, 1/4 for jails 1/4 for road improvements yadda yadda yadda. Then you find some of that moneys diverted elsewhere. Social Security???????? How about New Orleans dyke and pump maintainence?

Then they never to go away and next thing ya know their asking for more on top of it for something else or IT ISN"T ENOUGH.

Cincinnati stadium project. Sunset 20 years 1/2 percent sales tax increase to be offset by a 1/2 percent property tax break. Was actually going well, projected to be taking in more than expected, Boom economy collapse. Not taking enough in to pay interest payments, Got rid of 1/2 percent property tax break, Now they are increasing the sunset on it to 35 years. Gee, I think one of them teams will be wanting a new stadium bout that time, Riverfront only lasted 30.

Relevant? Probably not if everybody wasn't broke.
