Opening of Cedar Point

Associated parks:
None

I know this might sound kind of repetitive hearing trips about the point, but here goes.

Maverick first and foremost is looking pretty amazing in person. The theming looks like something that cedar point did a very good job on. The new games and the shooting gallery in frontier town were also nice.

Onto the rides

Millennium Force was an early entry ride, and it was still kinda cold in the morning as it was most of the day with a stiff wind off the lake. I really dont know what to say about it other than it having a bit of vibration, with the underworkings, but its fast and all so i think thats a tradeoff for the ride. Other than that it was running well.

Magnum was running pretty well, at least to me. The pops of air were solid, obviously alittle thigh bashing for a 6 foot guy, but hey its also a little cramped with those lapbars.

Lines were quite long actually. I dont know if it was for people unaware that maverick wasnt open or the plethora of people that had max passes for other parks, but if the trend continues the attendance could see a rise.

Other rides were dragster, nice ride, but still not my cup of tea.

Most of the other coasters, besides wildcat, disaster transport, and wicked twister. Highlight might have been riding the tilt a whirl in camp snoopy, man those rides still produce some fun. Plus a ride on skyhawk, which was actually using both sides, which seems to be something it never did alot of last year.

Only one major gripe was a bit of line jumping. Happened on of all rides the mine ride. Too bad they weren't caught but i didnt let that cut into the fun of a pretty solid day.

Nice resport. I bet some of the long lines were because the crews are still getting broken in. I won't be showing up at Raptor for a little over a month unfortunately but half of our crew has never worked at an amusement park before, let alone on Raptor, so the first day is going to be rough lol.

"The floor sinks, you soar, your out the door..."

Ahh ;) I can't wait. It's finally my season I'm 18 in two weeks and graduating in six.

*end reflection sorry about that

^No it was actually because the lines were because the place was packed. The main part of the main lot was about 3/4 full and there was a whole lot of busses out there. Considering it was opening day the crews did a very good job.

Yeah i agree there were surely alot of people there. The crews i agree did a good job, maybe outside of the gemini, they ran only red up at least until twelve, but they got it moving well later on. Raptor crew wasnt bad considering most of the turnstiles in the queues were open and the line was to the back of under the canopy under the lift. So they did well for their first day.

They did have some band competition, and i seen alot of ACERs with their jackets/shirts and a few other people with coaster shirts so people were coming from all over.

I too felt it was much more crowded that any opening day I've attended at this park, but the crews on the rides were doing pretty well.

Props to the Dragster Crew for awesome dispatch times despite problems the rides blocking system still gives, and all the manual resetting.

I was on the ramp up to the station after waiting what only seemed to be 40 minutes and would have expected to be well over and hour, then they shut down, had it back up and running in less than 15 minutes. Moving all of the trains and resetting the blocks in manual. They did a great job at keeping the ride up and running, and keeping people moving. Props to the Dragster Crew! =o)

That's been standard procedure for Gemini for the last couple of years or so.

Did anyone notice anything different about Millennium Force's seatbelts?

From what I've heard, they're the same.

Actually, I thought there was more slack in them this year. I rode it 3 times so far, and all 3 seats that I sat in were no problem to fasten. Last year I could hardley fasten the belt.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Call me a sucker, but, let me ask the obvious question crazy horse, have you lost weight????

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.
I was there also on sat. IT WAS PACKED ! I also decided to stay and go on sun. It was much better, everything ran smoother, lines were much shorter , I was much happier considering I live 5 hours away and can only go 3-4 times a year. Line cutting was a problem both days though sad ! Food prices were a bit up from last year. Maverick looks great from what you can see . They have it set up so you can't see the barrel roll to see exactly what or if they've started working on anything ? Lastly , I heard alot of people complaining about Maverick not running . Cedar Point didn't have anything posted saying it wasn't supposed to open until the end of May anyway ! When I told them the bad news , it was like it was my fault , so I shut up. All and all still great time Sun. O.k. Sat. *** Edited 5/14/2007 4:16:06 AM UTC by K-RIDE***
^ Cedar Point didn't have anything posted about Maverick being closed? From all the pictures I've seen, there was big signs at each entrance gate and in front of the ride.

It's sad to hear from multiple people there has been an abundance of line jumpers. I've never had an issue with this before. Where exactly are they line jumping?

I should have said alot of people expected it to be open because the sign said opening 2007 and they didn't understand why it wasn't. Ride cutting was about anywhere anyone could.
To answer a question asked earlier, Millennium's seatbelts are indeed a bit longer this year. I actually gained weight over the winter, I went from a size 40 to 42, and I had a far easier time getting the belt fastened than I did last year. I know Dragster's belts have stayed the same, and I had no problem with them last year. When I rode yesterday I had some difficulty.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I could swear there were new seatbelts on dragster or at least mine looked newer.

I also agree about the food prices, they skyrocketed a bit. Me and the two members of my family did a decent job of managemnet on that by splitting a meal with my cousin. My mom doesnt eat much to begin with so 8 dollar chicken nuggets and fries sufficed for much of the day.

Halltd i had it happen in line for the mine ride, right in behind the worker at the entrance, because the line was down to the queues at the entrance almost. I let out a nice for letter expletive, but remained calm and did tell the teenagers that did it to mind the policy or they would be shipped out. Kinda scared the fat kid in the group when i said something to stop him. They apologized thankfully.

That's good to know about the belts. Last year I had a hard time getting it buckled so hopefully won't have any problems this year.

It's amazing to see and hear what people have said about the prices of food. Most of the time, we usually pack some food and if we do get hungry, get a little snack or something.

The policy on line cutting needs to be strictly enforced by this park. I do not have a good time when anybody cuts in front of me, and I really don't want to get into a fistfight with some punk because I opened my mouth.

I will say that Cedar Point's new television commercial speaks to the very people we are complaining about (you know, the one where the kid rams his chest into the camera at the end?). For some reason that commercial set a bad taste in my mouth and didn't exactly make me WANT to go. I don't know who makes some of their decisions, but that was the wrong message to broadcast.

I'm sure they replaced them over the winter but that doesn't mean they are a different length.

Nope...Still the same weight/ height.

It might be a stupid question to some, but is Chaos still there? I believe that one is for sale.
