Opening date for Xcel! (official letter)

Here is the official E-mail sent out to the 38 highest bidders:

Sandor Kernacs, President of Intamin, Ltd. announced today (5/5/02) at 5:30 p.m. that he will be ready to open Xcelerator on Thursday, June 20th. The money will not have have to be deposited until June 17th. Please reply
to this email confirming you are still available to ride on this new date. If you are not available, would you be willing to donate your bid
and have a child from the Boys & Girls Club or Speech & Language Development Center ride in your place?

What size "official first rider" t-shirt would you like? If you do not state a t-shirt size, you will receive an X-Large.

The account number will be emailed back once a reply is received.

This was from another guy at ACN, so I guess, he was one of the top bidders.

I wonder if the ride will be open to the non-bidding public as soon as the two charity runs are done? Or will "opening day" be some other time?

So far the 20th looks like a "press day" to me.

No after that, it will open to the public. But the "grand opening" will probably be the 22nd (Saturday), but I'm pretty sure it will open to the public on Thursday probably around 5:40.

Interestingly enough, the 20th and 21st are the scheduled Knott's days for CoasterCon 25, and we are supposed to get ERT on the ride then.

I still hope so because that was one of 3 reasons I am going to CoasterCon XXV! I am sure I will have great time without it....but Xcellerator is probably tied for my most highly anticipated new coaster ride of the year.
