One coaster up, one down at Paramount's Kings Dominion

Posted | Contributed by The Jet Coaster

Hypersonic XLC at Paramount's Kings Dominion will not open immediately this season due to the operating problems in the first-ever production S&S coaster. However it will open later this year when the park likes the reliablity level.

Also, PKD's Mark Riddell sent us several photos of PKD's new Ricochet up and running, with the Ringling Bros. clowns enjoying the ride.

At least they arent lettinganyone get their hopes up and then deflated at HXLC. Whn I was there, we wentto get in line and the rid broke down, never to reopenthat day.
Im going to Va in 3 weeks and I was going to PKD just to ride H:XLC. And now its not going to be open. Its not fair.

"WE RIDE ALL YEAR!"
Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight?

First of all Jet Coaster, I think you could've picked a better headline. It led one to believe that PKD was also removing a coaster like PKI. Second of all, I whole heartedly support Paramount's decision on Hypersonic. Out of the two days I was there last season, it broke down for well over an hour. Paramount also wound up losing a lot of money on those free tickets for those who were in line when it broke down.

The word "definitely" is definitely the most misspelled word on the buzz.
I think that Paramounts decision to got open Hypersonic is necessary. Last year they did a lot to alienate their customers with the ride up and down. This was especially true since they didn't handle the public relations end the best.
When does everyone think Hypersonic will be open - I am attending the park the first week of June and would be totally bummed if it wasn't open.

With H:XLC being down for re-profiling how is anyone going to be able to get to Ricochet seeing as they are right next to each other? I would find it a bit risky to be letting guests into an area where heavy construction is going on,you also have to pass H:XLC to get to Hurler as well.I'm sure that by the time I get to PKD later in the season that everything will be up and runniing.
Intamin Fan - I believe Jeff who runs the site edits nearly all news items he receieves, so I think it was him to chose that headline for the news.
What a shame about Hypersonic, but I believe PKD are doing the right thing, If a Ride is working Correctly with more downtime then uptime in a season, then It only makes sense to close the ride down for changes/repairs or whatever needs doing, I would much prefer to visit the park when the ride is operating 100% then having it brakeing down every hr.

Nice shots of Ricochet, Looks like a great Wild Mouse, that drop looks amazing for this design of coaster also :)

BMCOASTER: It'll open in x days. ;)

I hope S&S does well in the relationship so they can further the sales potential for another Thrust Air! :)

As for Ricochet--nice and smart addition to the park. Glad to see it running without problems so far!

Alright we can definitely do without the X comments! It did open within a reasonable time frame, did it not?

Intamin Fan: I definitely think that Ricochet will help re-define the onslaught of mice in today's park world. I also support the definitive decision to put Hypersonic on hold until the problems have been defined and fixed.

Nice website and pics. Love the clowns! I definitely look forward to Carowinds' version.

Yes, I wrote the headline, and if you're into sound bites and don't read the article, that's certainly not my fault.

I read every article thouroughly before I respond to them. I just think the headline could've been worded differently.
