on ride songs

will the new coasters try to incorparate anything like this, kind off like rock-n- rollercoaster. with maybe sounds with theme and or something like this?!

No, not unless it's at a Disney park. The New Rock 'n Roller coaster opens in a few months in Paris however! The thing is, Disney has invented this technolgy and it's exclusivly theirs.

I have a dream! That SFMM fans will be able to walk hand in hand with CP's!
AND no ONE cares what a coaster is and what a coaster isn't!

I can think of several ways to provide on board sound for a coaster.  I wouldn't think that any one park or chain could control it.
I can only say I hope and pray nobody tries to add music to coasters anytime soon for the simple reason that we all have different tastes...

God, I couldn't even imagine having to listen to Linkin Park, Alan Jackson or any number of other bands while riding any more than the average person could fathom having to listen to Gouryella or Hybrid for the circuit.

To each his own on music taste and god help us all if parks start adding soundtracks with any regularity...

Unless it goes with the theme of a heavily themed ride I think that I would prefer the music of the wheels on the rails and the clink of the anti-rollback, not to mention the screams of the other riders.
Exactly Jim. If it fits with the themeing, then it's no longer a matter of preference. No one says "I don't like the music they play in line for Batman because I listen to Rap."

Music in line *has* to be seperated from music on the ride itself though. A fine case in point are CP's (IMO) horrid DJ's, it's not their fault that pop music right now is crap (again IMHO) but having to listen to it in line and having to continue listening to it while riding are two entirely different things.

Amusement today carried an interesting article about La Monstre at La Rounde.  (I haven't been there myself for almost 10 years)

It would seem that they installed an on ride sound system where you plug a pair of headphones in.  They can be rented for a dollar or two, or something like $5 for a "season pass".  I believe that they synced the sound via sensors placed along the track, if my memory serves me correctly.

I rode Le Monstre last summer, and I don't recall a sound system at that time.
I'm almost sure the sound system option on Le Monstre is still there, my friend Iain commented on it from his trip to La Ronde from 2000 and I just don't see them taking it out as it couldn't possibly be causing problems or be worth the effort to remove.

That said I just don't see where the market for something like that could possibly be that big....

Jim, this article was from about 2 years ago (Amusement Today), perhaps they did away with it in 2001?

Yeah background music on a coaster *can* be cool if the coaster is themed (see Space Mountain and Flight of Fear). But if I have to listen to Staind or Godsmack while I'm on a ride..I guess I'd just have to invest in earplugs!

I think that the only way around this is to have a method of turning the music on or off while in the station.

Perhaps a button that can only be pushed before the ride starts.

This way, those who like music can have it, those who don't will not have to deal with it.

0-82 in 2.3 seconds! =Wow!

my idea was more of a themeing idea with sounds and stuff and maybe a groups track if it is fitting with the ride areosmith goes with the ride due to its areosmith's "limo" so i guess its just how you look at it from a GP point of view

IOA has speakers in the cars on Spidey so I don't see how Disney can really have a patent on it.  it wouldnt' be that hard to put speakers onto rollercoaster trains or other ride cars.

should it be done?  that's debatable.  tastes vary and change.  what is popular now is only popular to certain people and won't be popular for long.  if you're making a heavily themed ride, definatly.  otherwise, no.  and ask for music specifically for the ride.  whether you have in house composers or ask a band to do it, make sure its unique for the ride.

I have experienced pop music on coasters (sort of).  when I visited SFDL, the ops at S:ROS had a local alternative station on in the ride station.  I liked the music they played, but I can also see how other people may not like it.  then again, it was just in the station and not throughout the entire ride.  in that situation, the music may have put the ops at ease which may have allowed them to be more relaxed while working (something that I find helpful).

I always sing the old (1960s) Batman theme while I am on Batman the ride at SFGAm.  So many people get a kick out of that.

Na na na na na na na na na BATMAN, BATMAN, BATMAN BATMAN BATMAN.
