Omaha/Bluffs Park

Anyone have some pictures or information on the new amusement park going into Council Bluffs?

Is it a 'sure thing' yet that this park will be built? News on it keeps changing. Has Papa's Park made an official announcement?

Not that I'm aware of. Their website is still under construction. A search of the Omaha World Herald resulted in no stories in the past three weeks [the farthest back one can search].

Last news I read was this Nov 19, 2002 story http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_np=0&u_pg=36&u_sid=568555 with a July 4th opening date targetted. I hope Wild Escape gets built it just seems that the details and info on this park shift around about as much as the purposed Dracula park or now finally dead Wizard of Oz park.

Well I know they've started construction. It was back in October I saw the site and they were coming along with the paths and drainage.

Glad to hear that there is construction going on. I am happy to be wrong:) Came across the article http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=7025732&BRD=2554&PAG=461&dept_id=507134&rfi=8

Still skeptical about the 1 million visitors estimate though. Seems like it would take a couple of seasons to hit that.

I was not aware of construction starting either, maybe ill have to go down to the site and get some pictures. And Jim I think the plans are a little more set in stone of Wild Escape than the Wizard of Oz park.
Wow, it's really happening! Hopefully we'll get some great new coasters out of this. Cedar Fair might have to do some serious investing in WOF now. Hopefully WOF won't get hurt too bad by the competition and put up a fight with some new coasters.

They originally had the park slated for opening the summer of 2003. Is that still a possibility? Thats a pretty ambitious date in my oppinion. So does anyone know how much construction has been completed and if its a possibility to open anytime this year?

The articles have Steve Minard kicking around a July 2003 opening.

Six Flags Over Nebraska - I am glad to be wrong about the plans not being set in stone, I have followed this saga over on www.ThemeParksOnline.org & www.worldsoffun.org and and just was getting the feeling that there was going to be more talk than action from Papa's Park, but, like I said I am happily wrong and look forward to having another new park relatively close to me.

Jim, I also post at those two websites under a different name. :) Didn't mean to sound too harsh
