Old Town in Kissimmee adding 350 foot attraction

Posted | Contributed by Jeremy3721

Old Town in Kissimmee Florida has begun construction on a giant sling shot-style attraction that will launch riders over 350 feet in the air. The ride will consist of two 280 foot tall towers that will hurl riders higher than any other attraction in Central Florida.

Does Anyone know when this ride is going to open?

the link keeps blowing up my browsers.  Is this ride anything like Vertigo at CP?

It certainly sounds like Vertigo or something similar.  I'll be down thataway next month, I'll have to check it out.  And the money to build an attraction like this is much less than to build a coaster, especially considering that there are already numerous theme parks with coasters in the immediate area.  This could be a good attraction for a little-known area.

The link to the outside site (floridathrillride.com) doesn't work for me, either.

So, Old Town says SCREW THE COASTERS!!!!  They are just using their money to put in HUGE, TERRIFYING rides!  Friggin 300 foot skycoaster was insane!  I wish I could do it again!  This will add more power to them!  Way to go!  I don't care if they don't have coasters.  They have one Schwarzkopf compact and a kiddy, but then again, we have IOA right next door.

is this ride going to be open by november 26th i hope it is because that is when i am going to centrel florida

It couldn't be a Vertigo or a Thrillshot since the structure looks nothing like that.  Looks kinad of like Xtreme Skyflyer, but they already have a skycoaster.  Are there any rides like this, or is the first a new line of Sling Shots?
They are competing in the toughest theme park market out there, since Florida is a key destination for tourists. They should just concentrate on cheap, thrilling rides since they already got a start on it. I've ridden the skycoaster there, and it blows every other skycoaster away! I am almost too embarrased to show the video to my friends because I almost chicken out on pulling the cord, that thing was way up there! The free fall time you get is incredible compared to other skyscoasters. If you want more free fall time you'd have to jump out of a plane.

I assume the new one is a slingshot, but it looks like a reverse bungee type ride. I thought those were banned in Florida? I've only rode a ejection-seat type reverse bungee ride once at a fair, and that was enough. It's not as cool as I thought it would be, a little too short, and it was a little rough bouncing around. I'd rather do a normal bungee jump personally.

Oh yeah, the Windstorm is an SDC, not a Schwarzkopf. I have a personal bias against Windstorms because one replaced the Jet Star I at SCBB (now it's at Thrill-Ville USA in Oregon)... grrr... even though the Windstorm is a decent compact coaster, it's no Schwarzkopf.

Why would reverse bungees be banned? Yeah, it looks like one.

Damn, I didn't know Kissimmee was near Orlando & would've visited it last time I was in the States. Also didn't get a chance to ride the Skyscraper on Int. Drive. Oh well, going to IOA & BGT more than made up for that.

Strange because they already have an ejection seat reverse bungy ride next to the Skycoaster. Maybe they will be tearing that one down and using the footers.
The new attraction is actually located right next to Highway 192.
I had the link, but lost it I'll try to find it again but there is a ride out that is a lot like a reverse bungee but it uses a heavy duty spring like system... And reverse bungee rides are banned in some states because of the fact that they are death traps...

man i tell u this better be open by november 26th when i go to florida it is going to be great when i go their
Old Town does seem to have an interest in thrill rides that have that extreme touch to it.  With their giant sky coaster and other slingshot type ride, that would fit in well with their limitied space availability.  Didn't they have a bungee cord ride at one time where you jumped off of a crane held basket?  I think it was in the front somewhere a few years back.
I just called Old Town and they said that they heard it will open next week. I hope that it is opened for IAAPA that will just be one more bonus for my trip in 10 days.
