Old Parks in/near Baltimore?

Hey everyone. I have an off-the-wall question. My grandmother and I were talking and she told me that she has only been on one coaster and that was in 1946 in Baltimore or around there. Can anyone tell me what it might've been or of any parks that had a coaster in Baltimore or near there? I think the Wild One wasn't in Largo until the 80's if I am not mistaken, so it couldn't of been that one. I was just curious, thought I'd ask everyone here. :) Anyways, peace. :)

I grew up in the Baltimore/DC area, but I'm too young to know about parks that go back as far as you mentioned. However, there is a website that might be able to give you some help. www.defunctparks.com has a searchable database of closed parks. A search of "Baltimore" came up with a decent number of possibilities. Perhaps you can make a list of these parks for your grandmother, and she can remember which one she went to, which could help you in your research.

My first guess, but only a guess, would be the coaster at Gwynn Oak Park. This coaster was built in the 20's or 30's and lasted until the early 60's. The decaying remains were still sitting there in the early 70's.

Several possibilities here. Could have been Gwynn Oak in Woodlawn, Bay Shore or Pleasure Island in North Point (near Ft. Howard) or possibly Carlin's off Liberty Hts. Ave. Gywnn Oak was around until 1973, then closed, but the Dixie Ballroom remained open for about another year until it burned down. Gwynn Oak was hit pretty hard by Hurricane Agnes in 1972, but tried to give it a go for one more year in 1973.
