Ol' Coney Island Question.

My father visited "old Coney (Ohio's)" park quite often when he was younger and he told me that he used to take a ferry across the Ohio River to get to Coney Island. Now, I am wondering if the was mandatory or it was optional. I guess what I am trying to ask is, is if the bridge was there back then or not and if not was the ferry the only way to get a cross.

Chances are when your father was growing up, there was no I-275 Bridge or interstates for that matter. The closest Ohio river bridge was the old L&N Bridge which was still 10 miles down river from Coney. Up until the Island Queen burned in late 40's (?), most of the Coney patrons did come VIA riverboat and ferry.
