OK Carowinds I'm tired of this crap

Hmm.. I don't think the Gauntlet/RPAT is a "Kids Ride".

I do think that we need some more Family things. Maybe more Shows, Kiddie Rides and things of that sort. I think a Nice addition would be another Playground. I don't know why they removed the Powerstation anyway.

Carowinds is lacking on several of the "Key" kiddie Rides at Parks these days. Like said above, a Frog Hopper would be nice, and maybe one of those Convoy Rides to go in Zoom Zone.

I miss several of the Flat Rides. Does anybody know what happened to "Wild Bull"?

Even with the removal of said rides, Carowinds still blows a lot of parks away in the family/kids department. Certainly kills SFOG. You should enjoy what you've got... it's really a great family park.

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

I just made it to Carowinds for the first time last week. We thought they had a very good selection of kiddie/family attractions. We've never been there before so I'm not sure how it compares to itself, but over all it was one of the best parks we'd been to in a while. Heck they even closed 5 hours into the day due to low crowds and rain and we still really liked the park.

Then again, the fact that there couldn't have been more than 100 or 200 cars in the parking lot may have swayed my opinion a bit :)

I really like Carowinds. As a matter of fact, it's the next stop on our schedule. But it is odd that both being Paramount parks, Kings Island is light years ahead in the Kiddieland department. If anybody knows a major thrill ride park with a better kiddieland than PKI, please let me know so I can check it out.

I've always thought Silver Dollar City had a good Interactive Kid's Play Area, but theres not that many rides in it.....

Ideas like baby-swap on rides is great but those kids still want to have fun too.

For my part, I flat-out don't ride coasters during "family trips," except for nap-time. And frankly, family trips are so much more exhausting that I often prefer to nap than ride. I get to spend so little time with my kids that if I'm on vacation with them, I want to be with *them*, not in line.

Thanks for everyones replies wether you agreed or not. Basically my complaint was that a few years ago my son who is too big for a lot of the kiddie rides but not old enough(there is a difference between old enough and big enough)to ride the really big rides, could ride the swings. They took out this ride and replaced it with something you had to pay for.(which as I said seems to have attracted very little interest). Then last year I had to pay full price for my then 3 year old's season pass only to find 2 more childrens rides goneor boarded up. Yes we got Ricochet but a 3 year old can't ride it(or this years Reptar) but we also got, guess what, another pay per experience attraction-Ham On Rye

Now this year season passes are still full price for the young ones and I believe they cost more than they did last year and another attraction they could both enjoy is gone.

They built the powerstation play area as a replacement for Smurf Island and now both are history with nothing in their place

My son and I enjoyed Reptar but my daughter wasn't tall enough.

Also, and this is a plus for Carowinds in the family ride dept., they seem to have slowed down the Rocket Power Air Time a bit from its Gauntlet days.

One more thing, I have been away from the computer since my first post so I don't know what Coasterdave said however I stated in my original post that I was posting this here because Coasterbuzz is a respected coaster website. The views of its posters , if read by parks, may be taken into consideration

One person, like me complaining to guest relations won't have the same impact as a hundred posting like sentiments on a popular website.

But it’s amazing to me to see that someone is actually complaining that the park isn’t family-oriented enough. Even if a couple kids rides are knocked out, there’s still TONS of more stuff that kids can do.

RJ, I don't think his comment was that there wasn't enough to do -- simply that there is LESS to do. It's valid. He's looking at things through the eyes of a father. If you went to Cedar Point or Magic Mountain and they went from 16 coasters to just 13 in three years, wouldn't you holler?

Last year was my first trip to Carowinds, PKI and PKD. I certainly didn't have a problem with the kids area at Carowinds, but it paled in comparison to PKI's. Still, we had a great time, but I don't have the perspective of being there every summer the way the that John has.
