The fair reported yesterday that 826,037 people went through the gates, a 2 percent increase over last year's attendance. On Sunday, the final day, nearly 10,000 more people showed up than on the final day of the 2008 fair. In 2004, when the fair was shortened from 17 days to 12, it drew 850,216 people.

Of course for a while they were counting every plane that took off from port columbus that went over the fairgrounds as having gone to the fair. :)

Before you can be older and wiser you first have to be young and stupid.

They dont do that anymore, the count is pretty accurate. (I think they used to count every hoof on every animal every day!)

The thing that helped the last day was the return of Rascal Flats at Crew Stadium. Some go to the fair first, and some go straight to the show, but all are counted as fair admission.

Weather was on the cool side for most of the run, and that may have helped too.
