Off Season Lighting

I noticed while at Paramount's Kings Island's Fear Fest that all of the rides in Hanna-Barbara Land had flood lights on them, even though that area of the park was closed. Beastie, Runaway Reptar, Scooby Doo's Ghoster Coaster, the entire place was lit up like it would be on a normal summer night. Other rides that weren't open around the park were also like this including Top Gun and Face/Off. This made me wonder: During a parks off season, do they keep the lights on in the park during the night, and if so, why?

I really don't know, but I can understand if PKI did since everyone driving down I-71 would be able to see the place. Other parks that aren't near highways... it really wouldn't make sense for them to turn lights on.

I believe that Millennium Force ran it's lights all off-season during it's first year...but I am not sure about last off-season.

WOF in KC keeps the lights on all night during the season (except when I worked there...I would drive around before I left and shut as many as I could off. Luckily there are "section" switches that control the main lighting. Most ride lights get turned off by crews, except Detonator and coasters which had to be done manually.....what a waste of electricity) The park is mostly controlled by timers.

During the offseason, there are no lights in the park on except for parking lots (Ford usually stores cars and trucks there) and occasionally Mamba. During Season Pass promotion, they usually turn Mamba on at night.

Waiting for the CP announcement to be made so that about 1000+ posts will be made complaining about it.

SFMW does not use any of the lights during the off season. Heck, they don't even have any lights on V2.

CCN's forums are now fully operational.

SFSTL keeps its Ferris Wheel lights on all year. They make it decorated according to season too. Judging from Cedar Points web cams, I dont think they had MFs lights on lest year. However they did always have a small light on on the walkway by Hotel Breakers.

If practice makes perfect but noone is perfect, then why practice.

Maybe the flood lights have something to do with off season maintanance. Just my guess; that's the reason CP has flood lights on at night durring opperating season.
The lights at KI are pretty much all turned on and off by timers which are set until the end of the season. Hanna Barbara land is still used up until 7pm when they shut down to gp and go to fear fest. Since it gets dark around that time they still need the lights on. During the off season though all lights go out. Only ones still on are the strobe lights on the eiffel tower and drop zone. Its really creepy driving by and not being able to see those two lit up from far away.
