So Alpie has officially been dethroned....oh well!

You're so contagious, you turn ma pages!

Hmmm i thought it would open tomorrow for the public, was this for the public or just for the media?

no, alpie is still the tallest, odyssey is only 180ft tall whatever the park or vekoma say!

I'm surprised that they would be able to open the ride today either for the public or the media after the ride stalled during testing a few days ago. Does anyone know if it passed any subsequent test runs?
I doubt it was valleyed. In fact, it wasn't, valley means stuck in a low point between 2 high points. The pictures showed the train stuck at a high point, and appeared to be tied to the track there.
Pictures? Where? Anyone have any links?

Most coasters valley on their first few runs, its nothing to be alarmed about.

You measured it?

So Far So Good...So What?!

not personally, but someone has and it came in at 180ft but the park arent now gonna say that it isnt the tallest, are they?!

Well, the FantasyIsland site also says Odyssey goes up to 100mph. Im not sure, but it looks taller than 180 ft to me. But definitely not as tall as they originally said. (235ft?)

it is 180ft tall and goes 100 KPH!

After a VERY long 5 hour drive and phone call to check the ride was open, got to Fantasy Island today to find ride not yet commisioned therefore not open to the public. Was open for official media day yesterday, spoke to HSE Inspector. He said that due to high winds parts of the coaster run slow and following the stalling of the ride earlier this week it wasn't safe to run the coaster. However a notice on cash desk said the ride was closed for staff training. Obviously this didn't include the telephone staff who had said the ride was open, in fact none of the major rides were open.

The ride did stall, the pics mentioned above are not fake they only used one car for the pull through. Fantasy Island SUCKS!!!

However they have put stunt flyer for 2003 on the park map.

You can read the first trip report from the Odyssey "opening" day 23rd, but it was only open for special guest only, on RCCGB site. Apperently the ride is smooth, (yes that's true all Vekoma haters) fun and it's an intense SLC-CD. I hope to ride it some day...

Some pics too.

I'm not the least bit surprised it was closed due to high winds. Hmm... a new Vekoma coaster closing down because of weather...sound familiar? Vekoma needs to get with it and make future rides faster, so they don't always stall!
