Oct. SFGam questions

I am planning on a trip to Great America the weekend of Oct. 12th. I was hoping to get some info.

How busy is it? Are all of the rides operating? And do they discount admission in October? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, where is a good place to stay? Thanks a lot.

It will be the epitomy of busy. Figure an hour or more wait for anything worth going on. With shock Wave, Cajun Cliffhanger, Power Dive, and East River Crawler all gone, there are going to be a lot more people in the lines for the good rides. If you play the crowds, thins'll be okay, but no mater what you do, figure an hour for Raging Bull, Viper, and Deja Vu. Vertical Velocity will probably be bad, too, although they usually have some very good ops on that ride. If they're still doing blue side backwards on the Eagle (which they were, last time I checked), it will have a long line. If they run all four trains (two per side), though, the line tends to move quickly. Once they branch off, the red side will probably be close to a walk-on. But don't expect all four trains. Great America tries ot keep everything open for Fright Fest, but they often run only two trains on every ride. On the Eagle, this means they'll brobably only run the blue side. Oh, and if it's too cold, they won't run Deja Vu.

Do a search for some more threads like this. There's a lot of info out there on this topic.

I would not go to SFGAm on a Saturday during Fright Fest if I could help it. If there is any possible way that you could go on Sunday, do that instead.

If you do go on a saturday you can always do the shows and haunted houses during the middle part of the day or get a fastlane pass.

Hey I'm planning to go on the 12th also. Since it is Culumbus day weekend the park will probably be busy. But if you get there as soon as the park opens and hit the major attractions first {Raging Bull, V2, Deja Vu-that's if it is open} you should be able to get on everything else. I know there are a couple of hotels around the area too. Hmm and discounts, usually Burger King has some coupon offers for Fright Fest.....I think like buy one get one free or half off. You might wanna check there.
