Observation Towers/ Structual Icons... A lost Art?

There's plenty of observation towers going up these days...you just tend to drop from them at 50 MPH or better.

I mean, what's the point of designing Gyro towers as opposed to the standard model? Having a look around, no?

Playa,

The problem with new "observation towers" is that I don't see squat because my eyes are closed. :)

I believe the most recent Obs. Tower built in the U.S. was SFEG's in 1995. But I could be wrong. From what I hear though, a lot of people in Denver think it "ruins the skyline."

Heh.. are you talking about Dorney Park? ;) Don't get me wrong.. I love the cleanliness.. but $2 mil on garbage cans? Even an expensive estimate at $100 each is 20,000.. or roughly 1 per person on an average day :-D

^^ Actually, commercial grade garbage cans cost quite a bit more than $100.

I was shocked when I looked up the price of the new Witt cans with the built in advertising space. Yikes those puppies are expensive.

Putting the 'odd' in Todd since 1976...
Well then I guess building an observation tower with 2 million dollars worth of garbage cans is out of the question, isn't it?
