Number of inversions for X?

How many inversions will this revolutionary coaster hold?

-------------
Drachen Fire, Will it be swimming with the fishies?
I think it has 5 inversions.
X will have 6 total elements 5 are inversions this is the order I feel they are in

1st element is the SkyDive

2nd element/first inversion is the back flip

3rd element/second inversion is the twisting front flip.

4th element/third inversion Raven turn

5th element/fourth inversion is another back flip.

6th element/fifth inversion is another Raven turn

And that complete's you breath taking ride on X *** This post was edited by rob4420 on 4/7/2001. ***
But what about the turning of the cars, wouldn't that be an inversion?
i guess that could swing two ways.

are you ready to go vertical?...V2 SFMW 2001 ...
That is an inversion, but they don't count as 'official' inversions, because the actual track doesn't invert itself.

Who is to say what is 'official'? This is the 1st time in history that this sort of thing has come up. You have nothing to compare the flips on X, too. So, lets just see what the 'experts' say. It does not realy matter. But, its an interesting question to ponder. *** This post was edited by sfmmman2001 on 4/7/2001. ***

I have to agree with coo man chu, no matter how "revolutionary" this coaster is. If the track doen't invert itself then its not an inversion of the total train which means there is no inversion

Best Coaster: Millennium Force
Worst Coaster: Project Stealth
I allways thought an inversion is when YOU turn 360 degrees horizontal, or vertical. I think every flip on "X" should count as an inversion. But I'm not saying it is.

What is a "Raven Turn"?
Why can't we just have 2 categories.

One where your body is facing the ground at 180 degrees.

And one where the track is facing the ground at 180 degrees.

Just use 2 categories to classify the data (this could also help the FD discussion).

What is life with out coasters, geniuses, and/or SFA
Does anybody know if the rotation of the cars will be planned and controlled? Or will they happen naturally resulting in a unique experience each time?

It is completely and utterly controlled by the extra set of rails. So in a nutshell the experience will be the same every time. Although Arrow has made it known that they could make a 4th dimension coaster on which the cars on either side of the track will do different manuevers. Unfortunately this will not be the case with X.

What about if the track is in an inversion, but the body is not inverted?

How about one category? If we have the former, then the latter is not really necessary isn't it? Plus, why should an inversion have anything to do with the track? When we refer to the "number of inversions" that a coaster has, we're referring to the number of times that the rider is inverted, right? If not, then a 4-D that always kept the rider perpendicular to the ground with his head up (you know what I mean :)) could still have inversions. That doesn't make much sense to me.
