Not-so-Great Adventure 9-5-04

Associated parks:
None

Just got finished typing my report, and what should happen when I press submit? Login expired of course. So here's the very short version

Closed rides: Skull Mountain, Chaos, Space Shuttle, Buccaneer, Houdini, et. al.

Time at park: 7:30pm-10

Broken down rides: Nitro, Rolling Thunder

Line closed for a long breakdown: Medusa

Rode Medusa, GASM, Nitro, and Chiller. It was all we had time for.

GASM and Medusa's midcourse brakes were on extra extra hard, kinda weird considering it was pretty cold.

Very disappointing walking around finding ride after ride closed/broken down.

I don't think Skull Mountain, Chaos, Space Shuttle, Buccaneer, Houdini, et. are all closed or broke down. SFGADV has a major staffing issue like all SF parks this park has it really bad. So I'm gonna guess that they didn't have enough staff to run these rides. Remember school has just restarted.

Thanks,
DMC

What about SUF????

School starting is not really a good excuse, considering that they basically go to a weekend only schedule after Labor Day.

Space shuttle has no power supply to it since they added alcatraz.Chaos has been open maybe five times this season they can't seem to get it balanced. Houdini, when the power went out two weeks ago the guest started to push on the doors the wrong way and broke the doors. The rest I wouldn't know, but the staffing issues at SFGADV happen every year no matter what time of season.
Kris most of the workers are college kids. And about all of them had to go back to school before labor day and or take of a week or 2 before they are do back at school.

Thanks,
DMC

The fact that their kids go to school is no excuse. I mean look if thats the problem then shouldn't all parks have that issue, and be showing it.

This is true, but they cut their operating days down from 7 to about 2 and 1/2. They should be able to shuffle around other employees. They should also plan around this, considering that it's a constant factor year to year.

SFADV has always had staffing issues. Almost all SF have staffing issues. IT comes down to there recruitment programs. They aren't as good as Cedar Fair. How many employees from other countries do you see at SF parks?

Thanks,
DMC

Try doing your TR's in Word or some other program next time, and then copy and paste....... and don't forget to break up the paragraphs if they start to look funky.

I know how annoying it is to lose something like that while you think you are still logged in. :-)

Hey, if it isn't open, then it is closed... doesn't matter if it is for the long term or short term, because of staffing or because of break down.

When you pay to go to a park, it is reasonable to expect most of the rides to be operational. Rides do ocassionally go down and that is to be expected... but the list of closed rides that were in the first post was very similar to what I found back on Aug 17 (different rides perhaps, but about the same number of rides).

Sorry, but I am not going to give Great Adventure a pass because of "Staffing Issues". Other seasonal parks seem to operate just fine.

You can also use the back button and cut and paste your TR into a new window.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Seriously, their operating days are down to three, I am sure that they can shuffle their people around. Not many other parks have a problem with this.
^^ coasterqueen, when you paste word into the box, you have to go through every line and realign it

^^ Apollo, I pressed the back button, didn't work
