On the new coaster at Knott's there wil be what is called a non-inverting top hat. I am not exactly sure what it is, but after seeing the Goliath pics I have an idea, please correct me if I'm wrong.
When you get to the top of the hill the track will not bank and turn, but just turn 180 degrees. So, when you are at the apex of the turn, your body will be perpendicular to the ground.
Is this right, wrong, on the right track...?
I believe you may be slightly off track... The way I've interpreted it is that as you approach the top of the hill, as the hill flattens out to the right, the track banks to the left (It'll feel like you are not banking at all), therefore leaving you right smack on the top of the hill, fully upright. Then as the hill goes vertical to the right again, you will simply go straight down as you came up. Maybe thats kinda hard to picture, but I hope that helps. To really get a feel for it, check out some of the many recreations of it at CoasterSims.com, or CoasterGames.net.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?

Plain and simple: You go OVER the top just like on Hypersonic.
No it's not a hill like an SD2K. Imagine a normal tophat but instead of twisting to thew inside of the track you twist to the outside of the track, should make for some maqd air time.
