Non-Coaster Day

Did you ever go to a park, and take a break of coasters and just watch shows and ride flat or water rides?

Roller Coasters or sports? I guess there are questions nobody can answer!

Absolutely! I just did that recently at BGT. I was with a friend who's not a big coaster fanatic and her niece and nephew. We rode the Sandstorm, then went to the water rides like the Tanganyika Tidal Wave and the Congo River Rapids. It was a great time! Sure, I missed the coasters a bit. But I knew I could go back and ride those anytime I wanted to. So that didn't ruin my time at all.
You mean besides the day I went to Epcot? Yeah, I did once, though not entirely purposefully. I went to SFA last year a couple of hours before closing one day. That turned out to be Latino/Latina Day and the park was "jam packed to the rafters" (RIP Harry Carrey). Well I just couldnt think to wait in line for those coasters when I could wait a day and walk on. So I watched a couple of shows, rode the swings then skeedadlled. Different, yet refreshing.

Oh and there was that one year back in like 1990 when I went to SFGAm with my scardey-cat friend and his pops and he wouldnt ride coasters. I got him on Demon once, but that was it. We spent the rest of the time on flats. Come to think of it, that was the only time I *ever* rode the troika "Triple Play".

Besides, if we were really shutting down people we disagreed with, would Jeremy (2Hostyl) still be around? :) I think not. - Jeff 1/24/02

Its just too tempting to go to a park and not ride any roller coasters. Sure, I like the other stuff at the parks: shows, flat rides, water rides, etc. But I just couldn't do without coasters.

Just sit back, and enjoy your record breaking ride on Millennium Force!

Of course....if my homepark is packed I'll go and watch the shows and ride the flat rides. Then later in the evening the lines die down and the riding time begins.

Nope, never did that. HOWEVER... I also never "power rode" coaster's either (with a few exceptions).

Usually I ride a mix of coasters and flats. There have been a handful of times that I rode ONLY coasters though. Twice during Hersheypark-in-the-Dark at Halloween (only stopped in before the hockey games on those two occasions to get in a coaster ride or two), once at Hersheypark's Springtime in the Park, and during my two visits to SFAmerica.

The reason why I have not done a trip with out riding coasters is mainly because we hardly ever visit the same park more than one time during a season (with the exception of Hershey... and even then not that much). If I know I am only going to visit a park once a season and then only for one day... of course I want to get in coaster rides... but I also like to jump on afew flats as well.

Granted, if we had season passes to a park, then it may make a difference. But with $30 and up admission fees... well... like to make good use of the day.

Sometimes I go down to Knott's just to walk around and relax. I was planning to go down sometime this week just to stare at Xcelerator for a while and admire its sheer beauty. I hope they are testing it when I go down...that would be so wonderful!

I can't afford to do something as ludicris as a 'non-coaster-day' when I visit a park. Often, I won't be retrurning to the park that year!

I have to struggle to go to my parks!

CANADA ROCKS!
Why do people line up for bad movies, simply for the fact that the words 'STAR WARS' are in the title?????

I spent most of a visit on KI's Flyers. Didn't ride Vortex cause they "claimed" it was too cold. Didn't ride Beast cause the brake work wasn't finished. Didn't ride FOF cause it was down. Didn't ride Sonny cause........well do I need to explain? Anywho, that was still a mighty fine day.

Coo man, give 'em a break, they kept Jar Jar down to a minimal role in this one!

Soon park benches will have seatbelts!
Model coasters and rides

When I go to Knoebels on Wednesdays for the bargin nights I do my Bumper Cars/ Flyers marathons. I still usually hit the woodies at least once. (more if my buddies are collecting tickets) ;) The bargin nights are a fun cheap night out.

No. Maybe if I lived NEAR a park that I had a season pass to, but since I live hundreds of miles away from one, no way man!
Due to the oppressive heat (I was damn close to hurling, and not from the two coasters) at Sea World of San Antonio, I actually saw the Shamu Killer Whale Show with the CZ crew and loved it! It was so nice to be able to enjoy something, but not have a lapbar or harness on my body. I then walked around for an hour-and-a-half by myself just to give my body some recovery time.

I would also highly recommend the "City Beat" show at SFA this year. If you're a big fan of the "shelf" as seen on Janet Jackson and JLo, there's a girl in the show for you.

Try the themepark diet now! Just walk vigorously around large parks for a week. "It really works!", says I-Fan who lost 1 inch off his waist in a week while in Texas.

When I go to park sometimes I can't ride coaster of my friend when he goes too.

Is that kinda like getting a piggyback ride? Coaster of a friend... Hmm.. All I can think of..
