No more DDR at Cedar Point?

I just heard from someone that was there yesterday that CP got rid of their DDR machine! Since I wasn't there myself can anyone confirm this, or does anyone know if they plan to get something new anytime soon?

I glanced into the arcade during media day, and I did not see it in its regular place. Looks like they have one of those Mocap Golf games though (motion sensor golf game).

Reports on GTTP claim it will be back in a few weeks. I have no idea as to how true or not this is.

Not to worry.

I talked to the games manager at the arcade on Opening Day. There was a delay getting the machines (yes plural) in time for opening day. They should be here later this month.

Well, thats good to hear. Any insight into what mixes they may be getting Rob?

Hopefully it was shipped out for an upgrade. DDR USA is plain horrible.

DDR USA is better than nothing........but it still sucks.........especially when they charge a dollar to play it (wasn't it a dollar)?

It was actually a bargain to play DDR at Cedar Point. You were able to play a two player game of five songs for only 75 cents total. I have no idea how this worked, but Kara and I discovered that we didn't need to put in two credits for a two player game.

Unfortunately I wasn't told what mixes they would be getting, all I know is that they are getting rid of Crappy 1st mix. Taking into account the machines in the area, I wouldn't be surprised to see MAX, MAX2 or even Extreme at CP.

...that's Dual Premium Play. The machines here are on dual premium as well. It's great when you've got a partner to dance with, but not so good when you're all alone. It gets expensive.

That could be that it's also $1.50 for four songs locally. Or, if I drive about twice as far, $1.00 each for four songs.

Just to let you all know, Cedar Point is now sporting a brand spanking new DDR Extreme machine in the big arcade. The placement of the machine couldn't be anymore perfect. It's right at the front of the arcade where you can draw a crowd of people who happen to be walking down the midway.

The price is also a bargain in my opinion. 75 cents for 4 songs. Play it as much as you can, the arrows need to be broken in ;)

Call me a dork, and yes I suppose I have been living under a rock, but I had no really good idea what DDR was untill yesterday at CP. I walked by the big arcade and caught a glimpse of some kids jumping around like they had fire-ants in their underwear and had to see what all the fuss what about. I will admit that this game looks pretty neat, but I could NEVER do it. I consider myself of average "quickness" but could never keep up with that game. Heck, it took me about 5 minutes just to figure out how those kids knew to step on the right arrow! (I really must be getting old now!) ;)

Are you sure I wasn't one of those kids? ;)

Steph and I knocked out a couple of games on the new Extreme there. Four songs for .75. She kicked my ass in a couple of songs. I'm so ridiculously out of practice because I just haven't had the time or energy to play.

I'm still not sold on if I like it that close to the door. I, unlike Rob, am not an attention whore. I thought the glare would be terrible but once you're actually on it's not bad. I think in a lot of ways it will be better because of the fresh air.

Regardless, beats the ghetto machine they used to have.

Mocap Golf owns for reals.

I played it in that random Golfland next to Arcade Infinity, and I didn't want to get off.

I'm not an attention whore, but it actually does feel good when people admire me for doing something physical. I never played any sports in high school....

I actually have a little "set" of songs in my head that are hard, but I'm really good at and have played many times, that I play when there is a large crowd around.... don't want to fail when people are watching! ;)

Steph and I really like DXY on standard, but we don't pass it frequently. It's not hard to follow, you just need a lot of stamina to get through the last 30 seconds or so (which I don't have being out of practice, naturally).

Even if it weren't near the entrance, you'd still get a crowd of people watching. When I played last year (when I was still stuck on the easy 1-3 footers), the youngsters watching just laughed at me. That was enough for me to walk away.

Practice at home has made a difference in my skill level, but those metal pads are different and don't appear to be as sensitive as the soft pads. I'll find out at Kara's party next weekend.

Figures they get the machine after I'm there... ;)

As if TTD wasn't enough, now I really need to get out to Cedar Point! ;) Jeff, or whoever else has played, is it $.75 for doubles by any chance? Even if its not, thats still a great deal.

So does anyone know what happened to the other rumored DDR and PUI machines? I'm really hoping that CP puts them in different arcades, that way no matter where you are in the park, there's always a conviniently located DDR machine.

As for the location of the new machine, I'm kind of mixed on the issue. On one hand, its going to be awesome to go up there on busy days and get huge crowds, (I guess you could call me an attention whore). I thought there were some pretty big crowds when I played last year, this year should be even more interesting. On the down side, there's probably going to be big coin lines since more people will see it right out front. But then again, those people might be afraid of the crowds and stay away... I guess only time will tell.

I admit that I'm a bit of an attention whore ;). If anyone was walking by on 5/15 at around 6:00pm that was Kristin and I that people were gathering around watching. I have never attracted that many people to the game before. They started cheering hardcore when we played R3 in Heavy. Something about those quick double-steps that they liked.

And Rob, unfortunately it looks like its $1.50 to play doubles, but I'll find out next time I'm there for sure ;).
