No criminal charges filed in fatal Glenwood Caverns accident

After a six-year-old girl from the Colorado Springs area died at a Colorado amusement park, the DA in the case decided to not file criminal charges against the operators of the ride. The 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office made the announcement on Tuesday.

Totally different situations. And physics.

Closest comparison I can think of that contains both scenarios is the back spike of the Intamin Shuttles. The trip up the back spike without the hold brake and then with the hold brake are totally different.

The "penny on a drop tower" that most of us have done as kids doesn't float gently. And unfortunately, neither did the young girl. If she had been riding Superman: The Escape (facing forward) she might have actually stood a chance.

(In case it needs to be said, none of what I wrote above is meant in any way to be mean spirited or sarcastic. I'm simply stating what happened in the accident. It's tragic.)

EDIT: I watched again after posting and the banana seemed to want to depart the area in a similar fashion to the penny. He had to grab his banana to keep it under control. Huh huh huh, I said... nevermind. So if I'm incorrect in attempting to correct you, Mfi, I apologize.

The coaster-riding banana doesn't lie 🍌

Nowadays that banana would set off a metal detector and would have to go in a locker.
