Did anyone else notice that the spine for the B&M track on Nitro is two different sizes in different portions of the ride? Here is a great picture that can compare the two size's of spine next to each other.
http://www.alexsplace.com/New-In-2001/Six-Flags-Great-Adventure/Nitro-3-12-01-23.htm From the support at the top, count down one to the left and that is where the change occurs. As you can see, it looks as if track that had to span a larger gap between the supports had this bigger spine. It is even on the smaller hills back to the station.
http://www.alexsplace.com/New-In-2001/Six-Flags-Great-Adventure/Nitro-3-12-01-35.htm The ninth hill has it, the tenth hill doesn't. I just thought I'd point this out.
Hate to be a nudge but has anyone looked closely at the Nitro 3-12-01-36.htm photo. Sure looks like some interesting stuff on the semi trailers parked at the edge of the lot.
The stuff on the trailer looks like a piece of an Intamin track. I'm not sure for sure but it seems like a piece of intamin track with its triangle patterns. That would be awesome if SFGA got an Intamin coaster. I'm not sure if I'm right or not but I can hope can't I?

Yes it does look reminscent of Intamin track...However the rails look a bit small to be. Could be for a scaffold. Maybe not but I am sure we will find out soon enough.

Looks like a crane to me.

Get ready to fly over Six Flags Oh..er I mean Six Flags Worlds of Adventure this summer with X-Flight!
Yeah, looks a little to thin to be intamin track... could be something like rafters for a stage or even a peice of a crane, but I don't think its track.
It's not Intamin Track. The proportions are way off to be coaster track. It is probably part of a crane.

The "track" yuou are refering to on the truck is definetly part of a crane. Just look at the end of the section and there is a crane pulley.
Never seen that before...probably for greater stability higher above the ground...

Hey, is that parachute jump operational? Does anybody know if there are others in the United States? I liked the one at Knott's until it was shut down.
BTW...GEORGEOUS coaster!!!

Decisions determine destiny; Destiny determines decisions.
I think the different track sizes are simply an optical illusion. The track is banking left at that point, and I think you just see less of the track when it's at that angle, thus it appears smaller.
Jman
Lol! Looks like no-one commented on what you said Bob. :) I'll be the first, yup, looks like it on the 2nd Hill, very slight change in vertical spine thickness. On the final hills, even thinner, well, I assume it all depends on how much load the track is to take & this would reduce costs as well.
Sure is iteresting, Nitro looks like to be the first of a new generation of B&M Hypercoasters, what with the missing dip, variable track thicknesses and a true overbanked turn. Perhaps Nitro is a testbed by B&M at working towards their first Gigacoaster.
Looks like you beat me to it Jman. However if the track was at, say a 45 angle, the spine would appear thicker as you're viewing the diagonal, not the side. Yeah, I think the photos are a bit disorted.

CoasterGod,
It's definitely hard to tell because of the track twists and turns. The spine size does look different though. Interesting thought on the testbed.
