Nitro's elements?

I rode Nitro in June and thought that it was awesome, but I still can't work out which bit is the s-curve! Also, what is the difference between a helix and a spiral, and what is the angle of the first drop?
Thanks

I was wondering the same thing about the S-Curve. Where is it?
The angle is 68 degrees a helix is when you go on your side usaually in a circle. The S curve is the turn around of the coaster, and yeah nitro is awesome!
OK...here we go:

Drop Angle: Advertised as 68....truthfully much steeper.

S-Curve: When you reach the peak of the 6th hill, you curve sharply to the left, and dive starting to head back the way you came, and then you turn to the right into the entrance to the Upward spiral.

Spiral vs. Helix:  B&M....it's always them to put a flashy name on the elements...such as Flat Spin instead of corkscrew....zero-G roll instead of Barrel Roll.  It is the same thing.

I have ridden many coasters as well as NITRO which I rode 3 times two weeks ago. There was a section of the coaster which was a VERY tight helix I beleive. All 3 times I rode the coaster I literally almost blacked out during this portion of the ride. This has never happened to me before and I've ridden many B&M and Intamin coasters. Did anyone else have this happen to them? P.S. NITRO is #2 behind S:ROS at SFNE
the angle is 68 degrees. it seems much steeper because you are at that angle for most of the drop.
Coaster131 is right -- the angle is 68 degrees, but just seems an awful lot steeper because you're at that angle for almost all of the drop instead of just for one moment.
The S-curve is exactly what it sounds like.  The turn starts to the left at the top of (I believe) the 6th hill (if you include the turnaround as the 4th hill), and as the turn goes into the helix, you drop back to the right...creating a curve shaped like (you guessed it!) an S.
A helix is mathematically different from a spiral, but I suppose in coaster talk it's exactly the same...it's simply a constant inclining rotation around the same central axis...in Nitro's case, it's after the S-curve and is a full 540 degrees from start to finish.
Finally, to address a rather confusing issue: the hammerhead is the turnaround...like Coaster131 said, it's just a really fancy name courtesy of B&M.

The S-Curve is kind of hard to locate when your on the ride but if you are there at the coaster celebration you will see it. Also that blacking out thing, that lny happened to me on the drop in back row on my 8 ride in the same day!

Sorry but SROS will blow itself to pieces and has recently. Regardless of that, it is still a better coaster than Nitro. The first drop on nitro is lame compared to SROS's drop(shorter too despite being a higher coaster) and so is the rest of the ride. I didn't almost black out but I did almost fall asleep on the last half of Nitro which is beyond boring.

Nitro230ft....

Do yourself a huge favor hun, Put JMO after your signature line.If you don't, you end up with alot of unessecary sarcasm from people who *think* you are speaking for them to.By the way, JMO is the abrreviation for, Just my Opinion. It still may not save you from the sarcasm but, at least you let them know it is only how you feel and, you are entitled to your opinions.

Well thanks for that.

Figaro, I agree that S:ROS at SFNE (but not SFA) is better than Nitro, but I would hardly say that Nitro is lame. If you want a lame hyper coaster look no further than Steel Force!

SROS has the worse layout I have ever seen Figaro! it 2 large helixes and 5 hills!!!!
1/4 The air time
1/2 The drop height
Nitro is Taller
large capacity
Much Cooler layout
100% accident free
NITRO IS THE MOST EXPLOSIVE COASTER EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw Nitro on the news but when I saw the SROS wasn't good news

Whoops, I didn't know you where taking about New England, I didn't go on that one yet. When I ride it (hopeful some time soon) I can agree or disagree. But Darien Lakes on the other hand is not better than Nitro!

OK, not that I'm trying to attract controversy directed at myself (because I love Nitro -- check my signature -- and have not ridden any of the S:RoS models), but this has absolutely nothing to do with the original topic.  This is one of the many reasons why topics get closed.  I don't agree with anything said after Figaro's comment, and I think everything from thereafter was completely unnecessary.  The fact of the matter is, the topic was handled, the questions were answered, it's done.  So take your bickering to another thread were it is bound to be closed faster than you can think of your next insult.

Well Davie sometimes threads evolve, devolve, or take short tangents. I really didn't think that I was insulting anyone. I just thought that the "blowing superman the ride of steel up into pieces" comment was kind of funny because most people who have ridden both Nitro and SFNE's SROS find SROS to be superior. That's it. Not trying to start a flame war just expressing my opinion just like anybody else. I haven't ridden the other two SROS's and maybe they are lame, but to me SROS at SFNE is second only to MF and thats only because of MF's height, drop, and speed.

Oops I have gone on another tangent.
