NITRO=Amazing

I got to thepark at 5 pm and there was NO rain and NO lines...it stayed that way for the rest of the night. Nitro had a wait for the front but,for the most part the rest of the rides in the park were ALL walk-ons. Nitro was down for a little and the line got to be about 80 people but as soon as the ride re-opened the line was gone in no time at all! Honestly, the longest wait we had was to process our seasons passes...It was the best day/night I have ever had at a park!

"So.... to whoever rode the coaster Nitro, which row has the best airtime. I know the front has the best view but which row gets the best airtime. I am aware that the back doesn't have the best, usually it does but everyone is saying that the best airtime is not in the back of the train so exactly what row is good for an extreme amount of airtime. I plan on visiting SFGAd and would like to ride Nitro and want to know the best spot to sit for airtime, thanks.

I rode in every row. I think row 3 or 4 had the best air time. The train design also allows a pretty good view regardless of which row. Have a Blast.
In reference to the Block Brakes. They were not on, but were working since when NITRO when down, a train was stuck on the block brakes. They were working, but weren't slowing us down the list bit.

I found the best airtime to be in the back row. You get launched out of your seat over the top of the lift. Just as long as the ride op didn't push your restraint all the way down. The second big spot of airtime is dropping out of the block brakes. All of a sudden the train drops, and u continue on your way up, its really nice.

The seats still have those little clamps. The only problem i see is people figuring out how the clamps work, getting them off i mean. At first i didn't know how, then i figured it out.
I finally rode Nitro!!! It was Incredible and, everything everyone who posted here about it said it was!!My husband and i rode three times,Twice in the back and once in the front.Riding the front was good and,i loved how the track dissapeared for a few seconds during the first drop.I have to say,for some reason and i can't put a finger on it,i liked the back better. The block brakes were barely applied and it just made that drop after Great!! It comes so unexpectedly the first time you ride. The air time was seriously pleasing to me since that's what i really look for in a coaster.I did get on medusa once and that's a must since it is my favorite looping coaster in the park.I have to say Thank you to the two ace members who i stood in line with for my second ride on nitro. The conversation was great and,i think you helped me come to the conclusion that we will plan a trip to Six Flags America in MD this summer.I may even try Talon at Dorney since you said it should be very good.Just thought i'd add that in there in case they read this.I'm going back tomorrow but, tomorrow is Mom and son day so,i'll be riding in loony tunes seaport, lol.

One more thing.....
Them signs going up the lift hill were really neat!! Amazing i would have never thought i'd be higher then Niagra falls and,the leaning tower of phizza(SP?) while sitting on a roller coaster!

Yes they do...
What kind of theming does the coaster have

"Sorry man, block brakes purpose is blocking, to allow multiple train operation! Yes they can be used to slow the train, but, I've ridden plenty of coasters, B&Ms included, at times when the block breaks weren't applied at all, and all the way to a complete stop. Not I, nor anyone else in the train, recieved "severe injuries" when the block brakes weren't applied."
I don't doubt that you've been on rides without the slowing, but at the same time there is a good reason to slow the train down in the blocks. Check Wardley's explanation here under "design lecture" in part three:

I've noticed this to be particularly true on Raptor. When the brakes were open, the few seconds difference in interval made setups very frequent.

I also contend that if you weren't an enthusiast you wouldn't know or care about the difference.

To be honest,it really doesn't have a theme. It is set rite behind batman the ride and it has nothing to do with Batman.Theme or no Theme,it's still the best ride in the park and im not really dissapointed that it doesn't have one.Alot of rides at SFgadv are in mismatched area's so,i guess it all has to do with what location they have space to build.

Virtually none!! The entrance is kinda cool just industrial metal style, and the pavement near the entrance has been designed with the name included. No themeing anywhere on the ride!! The track is all outside the actual public park boundaries. I'm not quite sure what theming would be appropriate for Nitro (please no wrestling) but something more extensive would be a bonus to this already magnificent ride.

I agree, Jeff. I know many coasters, particulary Arrow multi-loopers slow down dramatically. Tody Great American Scream Machine was brought to a 1 or 2 mph crawl, and it's obvious why. I was just trying to make sense of the fellow's statements claiming that having the blocks off would be impossible and cause injury. It just didn't make sense.

Today, I got 8 Nitro rides and they were amazing. None of the misc. trim brakes were on. I forget if there were 2 or 3 scattered throughout the first half. In the morning the mid course blocks sounded like they were on, but you couldn't even feel them being applied or slowing you down. Later on in the day they just barely kissed the train, maybe slowing it down 1 or 2 mph. Nitro was flying. It also flew up towards the top or my favorite coasters!

I was lucy enough to be one of the 36 that rode it opening day first ride (thanks to Scott who ran like crazy to get us in line) I must admit that when thy dropped the yellow line to let everyone in, it was a mad dash...anyways, to the ride...

As mentioned by just about everyone, this B&M is by far the best to date! The seats are comfortable, the track and ride is smooth, and the airtime is unreal!! My friends and I rode the second row on the first ride, then progressively went row to row throughout the day (the park was sooo empty that by 12 we had riden just about every ride)! The back gives some great air time and I fid riding the extreme left or right adds more to the ride. Because the turns are so banked, the feeling of looking down and seeing just air was great! :)

All in all NITRO rocks and I hope everyone gets a shot at riding it this summer!
This is getting me pumped. I will be going back to home to civilization (NYC) on memorial day so I'll definitely be there
