ive been looking foward to the news of this monsterous new coaster for a while. i am very excited and cannot wait to go there on opening day. after a while i realized the flaw with this new coaster - CROWDS. I remember back in 99' when the park had its first major expansion. I went to great adventure on a TUESDAY in july. it took me 1 & 1/2 hours to get in and buy a ticket. The lines were sooo rediculous i only got to ride medusa, gasm, and chiller, each of which had a 1-3 hour wait. Im thinking if six flags keeps up with their present advertising, they will attract a LARGE crowd this season, and these things can get big. One saturday i couldnt even walk over the bridge to medusa from viper it was like woodstock. still, its great that they are finally building a hyper. Go Six Flags!!:):)
The name of your topic should have been something more like the following
CROWDS: great for the park, BAD for the visitors.
But, I do see your point. Hopefully the park relizes their problem and trys to find a way to fix it.
its not just the crowds, im just sayin nitro is gonna bring massive crowds like medusa did, and make the stay for the guest less enjoyable.
Whenever a park opens a big new attraction there's always crowds. I'm curious to see what will happen this year with Dorney opening Talon, and SFGAdv opening Nitro. ;)
you're right. people will be pushed to decide where to go. hopefully they will go to dorney park because it is closer to nyc and the park can handle crowds better than six flags.:-)
Great Adventure should do like Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Va. does!!! They should just let in a certain amount and then stop!!! They are just too overcrowded!!! Even trying to get in the park with season passes takes a while sometime, and with this new ride coming in, I know that park is going to be that much more congested!!!
Any truth to the new rumor I heard on the net. SFGA possibly getting another coaster for the 2001 season? People say that their are 4 cranes there, 2 working on the lift and another 2 at the other end of the park. They are suggesting a flying dutchman????? ANY TRUTH???
You also can't forget about the other 2 majors openings in the region as well. TA2000 at PKD and Phantom's Revenge at KW. What a great location Philly is to live in!!!! All within driving distance for a PERFECT WEEKEND!!
I agree something has to be done about Great Adventure's crowding problems. Unfortunately, you can't tell people to stay home, and the park adds more rides because of the revenue. One thing that would definitely help would be to add another entrance (maybe by Medusa) and/or more ticket booths. Lines were so bad for most of the major coasters last summer that I rode the flat rides instead.
yea annother entrance or A LOT more ticket booths should be built to handle the crowds. you must remember that the park feeds off of nyc, philly, penn., and of course jersey.
Here's a little known secret i discovered last year to avoid the long wait. You can go to Guest Services, near the entrance, and schedule ride times for some of the more popular coasters in the park. Last year at different times i scheduled Medusa as well as the Chiller. You get to enter through the ride exit within a few minutes of your reserved time. One problem, a row on the coaster(near the middle) is reserved just for this and unfortunately you don't get a choice. You still need to get in line for front or back seats (of course). Any enthusiast should take advantage of this when possible.
Six Flags Great Adventure should have it where guest should buy tickets (for rides) ahead of time and just walk through the exit to ride anytime. They should also have it where you could buy tickets online or somewhere else ahead of time.
regretfuly, i have to admit i have never expierienced six flags magic mountain. does anybody kno if the lines are short there? i would assume that because of their vast selection of coasters, the lines would not be that bad. maybee if great adventure would build 3 more coasters, then the lines would go down...
I agree they need another entrance, the crowds at S.F.G.A. are getting out-of-hand!!
SFMM is HUGE. When you try to get in the park it takes a while to buy tickets and things can back up becuase of the metal detecter tests. There are so many coasters that at some times rides like Viper, Colosus, or Ninja. Golitath later in the day can get shorter than usual due tot he fact that the locals love to take a ride on an old favorite Colosus!
stop complaining! I waited for 5 hours to get onto millenium force. Its called buy a season pass and go when it opens and run.
5 hours for MF! The three times we rode it this summer was 20 min., 45 min. and 50 min. Geez. Bad day. The longest wait ever for me was 2 hr. 15 min. Mantis' first year. 2nd was 1 hr. 40 min. for SOB.
Is SFGAdv. opened year round? If not, does anyone know when it opens and closes this year? And, are all lines long or just the new ones each year?

"You think ya got enough o' dem parks 'n coasters 'ere in Ohier?"
great adventure opens on april 7th and closes at the end of october, after fright fest. it depends on when and where you go. if you go in the spring (april thru early june) the lines are pretty short and there is knowone there. in the summer it gets really crowded, but i find it better to go on weekdays. dont even bother goin on a weekend, cause you'll be on line for 3 hours for chiller! luckily the lines for gasm and medusa go quick, unless they break down.
