Nitro - No Dip Is Better

Recently i rode Nirto... WHAT A RIDE!! Besides loads of airtime, Great views, and smoothness, one thing stood out from all the other B&M hypers - The First Drop. I've ridden Apollos Chariot about 6 times in total, and I thought the dip up top did nothing to the ride - That was before Nitro. Without a dip, The front row offers an incredible view + hangtime, and the back 3 rows get killer airtime. On apollo, The dip has a trim which keeps the whole train at the same speed until it is off the lift. On Nitro, the back 3 rows are literally "sucked" over the top, making the first drop 3x as better. I hope B&M start using this more than the traditional dip.
I agree. I'm constantly thinking about Nitro, when can I get to the park again, feeling that first drop, AAAAHHHHH. I know, I'm off my rocker!
So tell us ... Enquiring mind need to know!

Does the front cars hang over the first drop waiting for the last to come over before the speed comes on...

One complaint about Goliath is in the front seat, you dangle forever over the edge and are part way down before the thing kicks in. Is it the same here?

Actually, the front row dangles for only a few seconds and the speed kicks in for most of the drop. I think this is partially due to the short length of the train. This first drop rocks.
No, the train dangles only for a little bit because of the length of the train, but the cars weigh a lot so by the 5th or 6th car, the whole train starts to fall. Thats why the back seat feels incredible as it is "sucked" over.

Uh huh...Apollo's Chariot has never (I repeat, *never*) used its first drop trim brake. Ever.

Nevermind the fact, also, that Apollo has a drop of 60º whereas Nitro has a drop angle of 66º. That, in itself, may have something to do with it.

Is there anyone here who has been on both Nitro and Raging Bull in the last row? If so, please comment on which coaster has the better first drop, I'm interested to know.

"Don't you hate pants?"
The lack of a dip is a HUGE improvement. The suspense of sitting at the top inching to the drop is nothing like the suspense of being in the front row and dangling over the top, looking straight down, waiting to plummet while the other cars haven't crested the hill. Ditch the dip!

NITRO kicks it into high gear...only at Six Flags Great Adventure!

My other car is a rollercoaster...
Legendary, I've been on the last row of Raging Bull. I havn't been on Nitro, so I can't compare it, but You get loads of extra airtime than anywhere else I've been on it's train. Also, it really doesn't seem to hang over the dip even near the front. (I don't know about the front car itself, never been there.) I think the dip would be better, because for some reason, everyone I talk to knows it's there, and when the train goes down it, they think it's the big drop, so it adds a surprise element because (for some reason) when we are on it, we forget about it until we are on it. It's funny watching those hands suddenly go down and a few "huhs?" then the huge drop takes them by surprise.

V2, Deja Vu... how can it be better? Add Viper! Oh, wait. It's already there!
The back seat of RB wouldn't be special without the dip. Nothing beats the feeling of being whipped over the first part and watching all the seats ahead of you dropping down... one by one ..until you get SNAPPED into the drop all the way into that little tunnel. Man I'm getting bullsick! *** This post was edited by goonsta on 4/13/2001. ***
