Night Rides on Woodies. They DO make a difference don't they!

Coaster Punk I was talking to Hammersley (HW Wooden Guru) Last season when he finally got Legend performing consistantly great with the PTC's. He specifically said. I was over greasing the trains and got some tips from other park maintence personelle and walla. Perfect!

Rideman mentioned that CP used that same procedure of greasing each car, one per day with the seventh day off.

I was very skeptical on Legend with the PTC's. I visited twice in 2002 with three different days and I never recieved a ride close to what the Gerslauer train delivered except for a brief shower on one of the visits.

I was also Optimistic on Legend. Because if anyone can work magic on a coaster its them people. And BAM, If Legend didn't run as good or better than the G train. I was super impressed!

Also Gone was Ravens sluggish moring rides. That coaster woke up the second day of SRM as intense as it closed the night before.

There are also several viscositys of grease they can choose but most use the manufacturers recomendations.

The beast is absolutly great in the dark. You cant see your hand infront of your face half the time. Then when you get to the open feild part you just hear crickets and see the grass and the stars. Its a magnificent feeling.

Been around for awhile...

(and 'Playa, Moosh, and the rest of you, I know you could make a joke at my expense... so open season. :D)

Last year at Beast buzz was the best ! Nothing beats riding the Beast in the dark. it was a great time ! I cant wait to do it again at this years Beast buzz !

Frank, who can't believe someone likes Psyclone

Haven't ridden either Psyclone or Flashback, but I'm an oddball to most because I really enjoy riding Manhattan Express and SFGAdv's Viper. Masochist, they call me...eh, whatever.

I find that Legend is helped more by the dark than Raven. The dark really helps that out of control feeling on Legend.

That's funny Jim, I feel the exact opposite. During the day, I feel Raven is only above average, but at night I think it is exceptional. Th Legend, OTOH, I feel is stunning during the day and only slightly moreso at night. Either way, The Legend is still my favorite coaster :)

who has to find a way to visit Paula and co. soon

haiderodes, I hate to admit it but I used to love Flashback when it was Zforce at SFGAm. :)

Wait till you guys ride Screaming Eagle at Six Flags St. Louis after dark..... *drools*

Um....drools from brain damage? I really didn't like that ride at all (Screaming Eagle) and it doesn't even hold a candle to some of the CCI's and GCI's being mentioned in this thread.

Double A (not to be confused with the "Wack Pack" member of the same name): I agree with the Tyrant, SE is a load of fun in the dark. I caught one ride where it was really dark, but they hadn't turned on the chaser lights yet. The romp through the valley was ruff and wild. It was one of the more intense rides I've had (not Raven-like but still quite nice).

Maybe I just caught it on a bad day, but I rode it at various times and never got anything more than a bone crunching, spine telescoping, chiropractic adjustment. It may have had decent air and some nice turns, but I was way too busy trying not to die to notice.

When I compare that to night rides on Ghostie, Dash, Phoenix....

I got some good rides on SE....twilight rides, none at night, but for a John Allen, I was *surprised* by the intensity. The trains and track seemed to be in good shape, but the lead op was SO bad he got reported...

I have yet to ride ANY coaster that isn't better at night...the difference is more noticeable on woodies, but ALL coasters are just plain better in the dark...:)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Yea, it was rough back then.....But now since they retracked about 1/4 of the ride, its amazing. I rode it last saturday at the Six Flags Spring Premier and it blew me away....
Rode the Texas Giant for the first and so far only time at night. HOLY SMOKES! The second half of that ride has got to be one of my favorite ever coaster experiences. Other rides I have done at night include the Screaming Eagle at SFSt.L which was oh my GOD fun, Coaster Thrill Ride at the Puyallap in a sudden Cloudburst which was oh my GOD WET, and Timberhawk Ride of Prey which was Oh my GOD COLD (but then, it was December...)

The beast is great at night, but I also like the Blue Streak and the Mean Streak.
