Night rides on Raven and Legend?

I was planning a trip to Holiday World this summer and wanted to know if anyone here has bagged any night rides on these two. If so, how do they compare to Beast night rides? I noticed that they don't stay open too late except for a few closing times of 10:00pm.

Lots of people got night rides when the park hosted the Stark Raven Mad event and can attest to how great they are. The only night ride I've experienced to top the utter insanity of Raven and Legend was Tremors at Coaster Alley Convergence [which is happening again this year...details coming soon!].

Anyway if you do a search for Stark Raven Mad I'm sure you'll find plenty of trip reports.

I have had some dusk rides on Raven and a true night ride on Legend during normal park hours. It was just incredible; totally blows away Beast (BeastBuzz). If you can, go when the park closes at 10 and remember they close the Raven line early so get there with 20 min to go. The closing the park early and closing Raven's line early are my only two real problems with that park.

I always equate my night rides on Legend to a religious experience. I definately saw God on Legend during the last SRM.

Other good night woodies: Avalanche, Ghostrider, and Beast (during BeastBuzz at least :) )

Certain victory.

Hehe, they won't have to close the line as early for Raven anymore...:)

Hammersly, quite frankly, is a genius...and yes, they are two of the VERY best night rides available.

I miss HW...*sniff*...

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Riding the Legend and Raven at night IS the preferred way. ;-)

I can't compare either to the Beast night rides.....three different experiences. :-P

Just thought of this, but one of the things that makes the Legend great at night is the spine-chilling wolf howling as you head for the first drop and into darkness.

Certain victory.

Both these coasters are great any time you ride them. Something happens at night though. The coasters usually reach near peak speeds about 6pm but add some darkness and all adults weighing over 150 and these two coasters are insane.

Chuck who ranks them a 10 on a 1-10 night ride basis and Ranks Beast about a 7 mainly due to too many lights

Thanks for the input..looking forward to it even more!

Moosh, if your heading to Visionland this summer, be sure to try and ride Rampage at night if you can. It seems like a lot of people ride this coaster in the morning or afternoon and think that it's just allright. It totally changes into a different coaster at night though and in my opinion, ranks up there with the big guns in terms of night rides. Especially the finale.

Pale Rider - I'll be at the Rip Roarin Rampage event on June 4 ;)
Awesome! I'll see you there! RRR is the only way to go.

Bob.....uh......that was me. ;)

Rob - who agrees that there is NOTHING like Legend at night. Nothing.

Hey Guys!! I will be at RRR also. It will be great to meet some fellow Buzzers.
I will agree with you there Rob. My night rides on Legend during SRM 2003 instantly shot it too my #1 wood coaster. Nothing has toppled it so far. Or even come close. Simply incredible.
I wonder if ANYTHING...even the magic of Jeff Hammersly...can truly compare to the Raven night rides of 6/12/1998, perhaps the most legendary Stark Raven Mad event ever held (oddly enough, even before the Legend had been announced!).

Ask anyone who was there. Once the storm moved out, Raven went wild!

I have a friend who was there Dave and still talks about it. So when was the best the Legend has ever run at an event? I still wish I had been there for the GOCC Fall Freak Out event in 2002. Wasn't that the one where bolts got shaken loose, the coaster was running so furiously?

Steve- Looking forward to seeing you there. Uh oh, it looks like Rampage is going to need that extra train for all of the people that are coming to this event.;)
