Night Rides?

How many of you like night rides on coasters better than daytime rides. I do, it makes the coaster ride much more intense. What coaster is definately the scariest coaster to ride at night. My guess is Nitro. It has absolutely no lights at night, and in the woods it just gives that Headless Horseman kind of feel, you know? But that's just my opinion, a lot of other coasters probably have a scarier coaster feel at night, tell me what was your scariest coaster ride at night.

I think there was already a subject about this but... I like night rides better also. Espcially The Riddlers Revenge with the logo glowing green and hearing th coaster go by without seeing is the best. Ghostrider is alo very fun at night seeing all the lights on it and seeing all the cars go under you. It's great.

I love night coaster rides, they seem to go faster too! I just love it when it is pitch black out and they have no lights at all on the coaster- that is so much fun!:)

Only time i've ever rode Son of Beast is at night. I think if i rode it during the day I wouldn't like it so much. It seems to make up for the beating i get during the ride.

Let me say this. I wouldn't care if parks were never open in the day and just open all night. When I rode the manits ealier this year. It bored me. It was the first thing I rode when I got to CP last June. I stepped off being very disappointed. But when I got back in late July I rode it at night. It was so much better. I was in the last train which may have had more G's, but I think it was the suprise element that I loved. The nighttime effect was fantastic. My favorite at night is The RAVEN at Holiday World. IT is absolutely insane and 100% crazy at night. You would be a fool to visit Holiday World and not ride both The Legend and The Raven at night.

The RAVEN at night at SRM...lightLESS, brakeLESS, headLESS.  Never have I been is such total darkness on a night ride.  Second darkest ride at night -  BEAST.  Clearly coasters don't need to go 100mph or have ten inversions to rock you!  (Not that I'm against either of those options either :-).  Night rides are WAY better, the feeling of speed increases dramtically, and I think the dew help good woodies slide more on the tracks.  Plus the park being lit up at night (fireworks while riding Beast ) really improve the ride...

NITRO EXPLODES!!!!!!!!!!
blowing superman the ride of steel up into pieces

Like I've said before apollo is great at night. seeing the full moon over the silent drachenfire was kinda cool too.
Not only do coaster rides at night feel faster, but they literally are faster. If you ride it in the morning, the ride is running cold, and the bearings haven't warmed up. But throughout the day, the bearings heat up, and the wheels get hot.

Factors that added to the intensity and fastness at night are close objects to the track such as tracks, and lighting or the lack there of.

I have tons of night favorites. Millennium Force at Coastermania during ERT was the best coaster ride of my life. I also figured out a way to get my legs free during the ride by putting them up on the blocks right behind the front row. I got my legs free, and it felt like a floorless ride on Millennium Force. I see no possible way of improving on the ride. It was perfect.

Magnum the same night was awesome too. I had ridden it 5 straight times during the day and the trims were off. It ran really fast and the ejector air was unmatched. Then at night, it was even faster. 15 straight rides. Running off the ride and not stopping until getting up to the platform. There were a few trimless rides, but last year, there were no trims whatsoever...very sweet.

Son of Beast is fast, furious, and rough. During night rides, it's absolutely insane! This thing never lets up, and in the first helix, if I hadn't supported myself with my legs, I probably would have hurt something. :)

The Legend is quite possibly my favorite night woodie. I rode it 3 times in pitch blackness. Fast, furios, rough, and brakeless. In my second ride, it over shot the brakes by at least 20 feet...so I got my first reride. :)

The Raven was good at night, but not as good as The Legend. It lacks the same intensity.

I also love coasters at night.  Especially Superman: ROS at SFA.  Its kind of back in the woods, so its "extra"-dark back there and it makes the ride so much better.  You can't even see the person in front of you, and when you get to the top of the lift, it looks like your falling into nothing.

I love night rides. This summer I made sure the last thing I did each night at the park was ride AC before leaving. Not seeing the exact moment you were going to drop made the drop that much better when it happened. Also, BBW isn't all that exciting, but a night ride is very cool because of the lights in the village set make it look more realistic than it does during the day.
My Favorite Night Ride would have to be Superman-The Escape at SFMM.  Flying through the night at 100 mph, and then going up that tower and being able to see all the lights in the park (For a few seconds at least) Was Amazing.  It was much better at night than it was in the day IMO.

I rode the Beast at night once and taht was the best night night ride i've had.

CPgenius - I agree about the (formerly) trimless Magnum, it was pretty spectacular in it's day (of course, Mean Streak was faster AND smoother, and Mantis much smoother too).  And to think my first CP trip was 1999 - doesn't seem like so long ago until I think about what's happened...Oh well, I still love Maggie, not to mention MF, Raptor, and Blue Streak.  I liked Raven a little better than Legend because of the lake run and it's supreme out-of-control ride, and the double-helix on Legend was a bit too heavy on the laterals for me.

And to scoaster, SROS at SFA was my best ever nighttime front ride on ANYTHING, can't wait to ride the other SROSs.  Keep the lap bars up high, the seatbelts loose, and the flight time is better than can be believed...I got about 15-18 seconds of incredible floater air on those hills!

The Beast, at night, in the front row.  Best ride I have ever had. :)
Goliath is amazing at night in the front seat!

I liked Mantis at night as well this year. It was my first night ride on it. I have yet to ride Mean Streak at night. I always want to, but when I go to the park, I either can't stay until night, or it doesn't get dark before the park closes. It's a spectacular sight with all the flood lights shining up onto its super structure, but I have yet to experience it at night. It would be nice to go during HalloWeekends to get a whole bunch of night rides, as well as one on MS.
