Nickelodeon Universe draws record crowd at Mall of America

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Nickelodeon Universe opened last weekend with new rides, officially retiring all instances of the former Camp Snoopy theme. The mall attracted 150,000 people, double that of last year for the same weekend. Several new Nick-themed rides made their debut.

That is all fine and good. But how did it compare to when Camp Snoopy first opened with the mall? Is this really apples to apples?

I'm not saying CS was better but lets see where NU is after the same amount of time.

I don't have many points of reference, but 150,000 people sounds insane!

I think that's more than the Magic Kindgom gets on a typical summer weekend! Did they market the opening heavily?

Yeah, but I'm sure a great many are there for shopping and not the amusement park.

yeah I wonder how much of that 150,000 actually were actually riding the rides. Probably never get that information but would be interesting to see.
Interesting ACE was not invited to a media pre-opening event for Nick U or for Renegade last year (while another website rode it non-stop for b-roll footage the day before it opened). Ok, I'm done grumbling, and renewing.
^I wondered the same thing. This region got screwed on that deal.

What was the other group?

Is ACE entitled to such treatment?
No one is entitled to anything, it seems ACE is losing some of its pull with the parks that it may have had in the past.
When you compare the last west coast bash to the upcoming ACE day at SFGAM there is no comparsion between the events in price and what you get for the money you pay.

I'm still wondering what people get for $60 to be in the club.
^ Depends where you live. The Frozen Tundra region of ACE is pretty sleepy, probably always will be and it's just not worth it anymore for our family. Now say out in CA, the red carpet is rolled out on a fairly frequent basis.

But based on experience it seems most ACE members renew each year primarily for social reasons. And again it depends on where you live and/or how much you can afford to travel to attend events. I've rarely heard a member grumble about the fees, those that want to be there seem more than happy to pay the dues. Well, that is aside from me, which is ok, more time for other hobbies closer to home.*** This post was edited by Marko 3/29/2008 1:22:00 AM ***
