NEWS: SFWoA to Have Early Summer

NEWS FLASH: Six Flags Worlds of Adventure
Herkemer the 2 Predicts Early Spring for Ohio
From: Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio (Which is close to Aurora, Ohio)
Feb. 3, 2002

I was up taking some pictures during the off season at Six Flags Worlds of adventure, when I got to see a rare site…

Many people don’t know it, but there is this awe-inspiring turtle at Six Flags World’s of Adventure. His name is Herkemer the Second. He is usually seen posing in front of Batman's Knight Flight and is even seen on a few Ohio web sites.

I got to have a little chat with him and his big occasion today and find out why no one really knows about him and his great skill of predicting the Ohio forecast. My first question is why he is a day late and a dollar short on predicting Ohio’s forecast (since usually all the other animals do it on Feb. 2)? He explained to me that almost all the animals alarms go off on the second as does his, but since he is a turtle, it took him forever to get out of his burrow. Unfortunately, he finally made it out today, when no one was there to see him (that’s where I come in). He went on to explain how he was so excited to see me today since he could actually tell someone winter was going to be short this year. I asked him if he has ever told anyone about his weather predictions and he said he did tell a female turtle once, but then remarked that he didn’t come around to telling her until 3 days before winter!

I changed the subject to try to find out a little bit about his history. Looking into his roots I asked Herkemer how he made it to SFWoA and if he had any family? He told me his only surviving relative is his sister who resides at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, under “that coaster that the park refuses to say is there.” He told me that something went wrong during birth and that she can only predict the weather on Labor Day.

When asked how he made it to SFWoA, Herkemer said it was a really long story (even for a turtle) but that he got swept up by a park sweeper, went into a garbage truck, fell out of a garbage truck, bounce on a highway up into another truck (somewhere in Pennsylvania…he believes) which the truck ended up carrying pieces of Mr. Hydes Nasty Freefall. I couldn’t believe all the stuff this turtle has gone through. I ended up thanking him for all the info and the GREAT Ohio report. He thanked me and said hopefully next year the word will get out about him. I ended up taking some more pics with him and some of the park in the off season which will be put up online later this year. Until then have a great winter and look forward to an early summer!!!
