News from Martin & Vleminckx website regarding retracking, new rides

I checked today Martin & Vleminckx website and surprise... its was updated!

I could see that CF got them to retrack/refurbish all three Geauga Lake woodies, so that's good news!

Also, listed is Cypress Gardens, in the manner of a 40' family wooden coaster, something called a Crazy Scooter?? and to build 2 ARM rides, a Super Shot and Mega Bounce.

Now regarding the ex Thunder Eagle, the problems getting the construction permits from the city have gotten bad to the point Mont Saint-Sauveur is sueing the city!

Can you please post a URL?

Wow, Cedar Fair wasted no time unleashing the Canadians on Geauga Lake.

If they do half as good a job on the GL woodies as they did on the Great Escape Comet a decade ago, I don't think anyone will be complaining.

Does anyone know if M&V are also building the larger Cypress wood coaster in '05?

That work on Big Dipper and RWB was in progress before the sale announcement.

As was the extra support to Superman

Chuck, who gives CF credit when it's due but not when it isn't.

I thought Villain and Big Dipper were already running insanely well last season. I knew the job on RWB was being finished up over the off-season.

I thought Big Dipper washboarded worse than almost any coaster I'd ever ridden last year.

Chuck, who thought Villain was pretty good but RWB was DFTD when I visited

Look no further than CP's Blue Streak for their handy work. I've acquired a new taste for that ride the last two years, and I try to ride it whenever I can now.

I remember Blue Streak running phenominally back in '02, so I guess they are to thank for that?

Yep, that was their work (it got paint that year too). It continued to run well last year. Maybe it was Scott Short who said to me, "Did you notice there are actual laterals in the turnaround?" Good times.

Jeff - Editor - CoasterBuzz.com - My Blog

I didn't notice any laterals on the turn, but there was quite a bit of airtime to be had on many of the hills, including the two final speed hills before the brake run (if I remember correctly.) I heard people complain about how the individual lap bars ruined the airtime on the ride, but I had nothing to complain about. There was no line, so we got about a dozen or so rides within an hour. Good times indeed.
Woohoo!!! I can't say anything about Villain (having never ridden it), but I am really glad to hear that something is going to be done with RWB & BD. They both really needed help last time I went.

I love Blue Streak, so if RWB & BD run anything like Blue, then I'll be thrilled to spend more time in GL.

Just launch the train...and nobody will get hurt!

I cant wait to ride Villain this year, maybe the airtime over the second hill will be back! I remember floating over it.
I probably just love the *accidental airtime* from bumps that aren't really supposed to be there. That's a real woodie. ;)

The Canadians sure did a *phenomenal* job with my baby Gwazi....just when I'd almost decided that GCII sould "disown" the coaster, it was brought back to better-than-new...

M-V rocks!

Maybe we can et them to come down and work on Mean Streak... MS is A1 eye candy, but needs some TLC

Uhhhhhhhhh....they already did. HurtMePlease too.
rollergator: When did Gwazi receive some TLC? I rode it back in November of '02 and February of '04 and both times it was running exceptional. Definitely one of the most underrated wood coasters in this country.
Villain's *jazz track* is getting fixed, and they are currently installing the track steel to the new laminates on the 'Dippers rehabed areas. Wolf Kabobs is nowhere near ready at this point, as there is still a bunch of track that is missing on the first drop. It may not open with the rest of the park in two weeks by the looks of it, but I'm not for sure. Thanks for the input about Martin & Vleminckx doing the work though Rob.

Wood Coaster Fan Club...debuts at Knoebels on Saturday to distribute materials and information.

Too bad that Wolf Kabobs won't be open with the rest of the park, but its probably best that they take the extra time to do whatever they can to that thing!
