Newer B&M's-Dull or Intense?

Don't worry, B&M's intensity lives on. I hear Talon is intense, I know DD Fire/Ice are intense, and the B:TR clones keep coming up everywhere. Georgia Scorcher is another example of new B&M intensity, and there are more that I'm not mentioning. One thing, if a ride is smooth, it does not mean it isn't intense. You can have a rough coaster with lots of dead space between elements, and it won't be intense. That said, you can have a coaster such as Montu that is smooth as glass, yet you go from one element right into the next,(save the turnaround after the 2nd vertical loop)And bam, you have a smooth, yet intense coaster.

Talon may look intense but its not. It is a fun ride but kind of boring. In my opinion ( and I will probably get bashed for this ) Hercules is the best coaster in the park and better then Talon.
Medusafanatic I agree about Talon, but Steel Force is definately the best.
I think it all depends on the ride, and its elements.  I think Alpengeist is not too intense until you get to the cobra roll.  It is great in any seat.  Batman the ride was real intense too, but i agree that it is too short.  I love the smoothness of Nitro.  I went on it one time when the wheels were old and I felt shaken up at the end.  Still a great ride, though.

The more compact the layout, a la Talon and Ga. Scorcher, the more intense!  The more land area the coaster consumes, for me at least, the intensity drops significantly....

I guess it is a matter of personal preference... some people think certain rides are intense while others think they are dull, and vice versa.  I happen to love Talon and Nitro, I think they are two of the best steel coasters I have been on, but a lot of people think they are fairly weak designs.  Meanwhile, many people love the Batman clones and think they are intense, and I find the one at SFGAdv kind of lackluster.  To each his/her own, I suppose.
i find the BATMAN at SFGADV very intense, more intnese than the Chiller. Some older B&Ms are more intense, i find Kumba more intense than Medusa east, and they have a similiar layout. the floorless factor didnt add much.
Why only dull or intense? While I *do* think that many of the newer B&Ms are not as intense as some of the older ones, and I've ridden the oldest (Iron Wolf) and one of the newest (NITRO) I dont consider many of them "dull" (perhaps maybe Vortex @ Carowinds). But Raging Bull, Montu, Kraken and Kumba are all some of my favorites and they represent early middle-aged and new B&Ms.
ciao,
moi
--B&Ms just rock...(well maybe not Raptor and Hulk :))
Mantis at CP is smooth and totally out of control at the same time.  I love the way it roars.  I was lucky enough to ride it with the trims off and that baby was SWEET.
The good:

Apollo's Chariot
Kumba
Dueling Dragons
Hulk

The bad:
Alpengiest
Montu (Braked)
Batmen
All standups
Raging Bull

The Ugly:
Medusa East
Great Bear

You guys are unreal! We are fortunate enought to live in a time when several great coaster companies are battling for supremacy, with B&M leading the charge. They have revolutionized the coaster industry in the last 10 years. They made loops and standups bearable, something Arrow and other companies couldn't do. They've created new types of rides like the inverted and floorless. They have also engineered many new elements, like the dive loop, Immelman, and cobra roll, and made them comfortable to traverse. They have made stuff a reality that no other company could. We need to appreciate the oppurtunity we have to ride these things as they appear each year.
By the way, I don't see the correlation between intensity and smoothness. The way I see it is if you're traveling at 50-80 mph pulling crazy maneuvers, it's intense. I love every B&M I've been on and the ride quality they offer, and I'll finally have one close to home next year at SFNE.
Amen Z-Man. First everyone hates Arrows, now B&M's are too smooth, so what's the median?

Here is my final conclusion (this is my opinion, and I am not changing it):

B&Ms get better with age, when it really feels out of control!

I'm not complaining about any company especially B&M but the GP love the smoothness and hate the headbanging Premier and Arrow give.
Wait until the Batman clone is finished in La Ronde..

You,ll get a taste of what Batman felt like in 1992...

I don't like headbanging, nor do I like silky smooth.  I prefer bumpy rides where you are't really jerked around.
