New Year's resolutions...

I'd love to hear what some of you will do differently this year coaster wise. I myself have a few:

1) I will no longer have top 10 favorites. I have done this in the past, but I think it has become a silly enthusiasts stunt in order to impress people. Not knocking those who do, and I love to read them, but fo me there are just too many coasters out there and my list changes sometimes day to day depending on how I feel, so what's the point? I'll have several favorites, and that's about it.

2)I will no longer get involved in ANY SFMM/CP/Superman/my park is better than yours type debates. They lead NOWHERE, and if parks themselves read these boards, I wouldn't blame them one bit if they closed the doors on enthusiasts events. We are just too damn picky. Say what you want about CP and SFMM, I will just get the best of both worlds and leave it at that.

3)Mid-summer park visits-I can't stand overly large crowds, and this year I simply won't do it. I'll do my park going in early May-late September, and leave the rest of the summer to the teenagers.

Does anyone else have any?

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone opted for #2?

I don't know how you could cut off the entire summer like that. Which parks do you frequent in those months that are so bad? I ALWAYS travel June/July/August (even to CP which supposedly is horrible in July/Aug? I guess people can't tolerate 30min lines?) I rarely EVER have a problem with crowds! After doing my annual East Coast trip in May, I also did a souther coaster tour hitting big parks like PKI, PC, IOA, BGT, SFoG, etc in June with EMPTY parks! Honestly, almost EVERYTHING was a walk on in those parks! SOB was probably the longest we waited at 45mins with one train (It DID get up to 3hrs though).

I could never cut off my summer like that. Have you had really bad experiences or what?

No, but I just don't really feel the need to go to parks all summer long. I like to do it early in the season and late in the season. For one thing, I'm an ACE member, so I can usually get several rides on the new coasters on Media day. It's tough for me to then wait 2 hours for those same coasters, I don't know, call me spoiled. Plus, most parks lose it mid summer. The ride ops slow down, there is no security to speak of, and like I said, I just don't like big crowds. Of course I'll have to make an exception for X when it opens in June, bit other than that, I'll stay home and fix up my house. I am leaving exceptions to that rule obviously.

This is the first year I've got a true New Year's resolution, and I plan on sticking to it. I'm not going to divulge it here, though, since this is a family site. ;)

Coaster-wise, there's nothing I really wish to change about my habits, other than try to be a little nicer to fellow coaster enthusiasts (and amusement park fans).

My resolution is to say something nice to the ride ops because without them, we couldn't ride at all.

Thank you for riding America's Roller Coast
Ride Ops and people who are responsible for presenting you with food are people that everybody needs to be ultra-nice to.

hey legendary... friends and myself traveled to CP last summer mid-august and made the mistake of not getting there at the crack of dawn. how would u like to wait in a cramped van for 3 extra hours just between the 80/90 toll road and CP. (which would normally be a 20 minute drive) That was after driving 4 hours. You must be extremely lucky. :)
I was trying to make a rollercoaster ride out of jumping out of the van and rolling through the other lanes and back.... we were that bored lol!

Wow, sounds pretty crappy! Nothing like that has ever happened to me in the past five years of going to CP from just north of Chicago (Fifteen mins away from SFGAm). I went to CP every month this year, too. You just have to get up earlier ;).

I must also get to SFGAm...and I will be there for the rehire party in eight days :).

My thoughts exactly! I will try desperately to make it there this year. It's closer than PKI, yet I went there last year and not SFGAm. *** This post was edited by CPgenius on 1/4/2001. ***

you dirty rat! :)
you wouldn't by any chance want to switch lives and living quardanants?
I don't get up till noon, I have a 3 hour job, and a likely future career as a radio DJ. You live fifteen min. from SFGA, sounds like a fair trade.

Jeff this reply thing is the bomb (yes we in indiana still use that phrase)
