New years in Orlando?

Thursday, December 26, 2002 10:58 AM
Any natives of orlando here, with IOA and Disney parks as their home parks, i was wondering if you could help me on this one. My sister and I are going down to Florida, and we'll be in Orlando for New Years. She is 23 and I am 17. I understand that you have to be 18 to get into pleasure island, but i'm wondering if there are any other things that we could go to.

I've researched and haven't found too much.

Maybe Universal Citywalk?

Thanks in advance

Hey, most parks have a very big celebration of the New Year with tons of fireworks and stuff. The largest one I think is at the Magic Kingdom. I was there to celebrate 1999 and had quite a lot of fun.

Actually EPCOT's is the biggest. I went a couple years and it was excellent. Citywalk is all ages around, but you need to be 18 to get into the clubs as always. All the parks (including Sea World) are having fireworks this year at midnight, so anywhere is good for them. Don't forget that the cities around Orlando also set off their own fireworks.

Do check out the news item posted today. Looks like both Disney and Universal are going to be insanely busy.

Universal parks are open until 1am on New Years Eve and there will be a Godsmack/SevenDust & maybe somebody else (didn't hear all the details) concert at Hard Rock Live at Universal City Walk. There is a stage set up in front of Dueling Dragons with a sign about a New Years Eve celebration - didn't see any other details when I was there on Monday. There's also what looks like scaffolding for lighting set up in Marvel Super Hero Island - nothing on them just towers about 25 - 30 feet tall near the Hulk.
