Oooh oooh! I hope so. From San Diego to Silverwood via Marine World, Thrillville, Puyallup, Enchanted Village, and PNE. The Pacific Northwest could become a woodie Mecca!

Ron - there was a post on RRC about this as well [Google link to thread]. I haven't heard anything from any of my sources but the area sure could use a woodie ;)

I'v e heard this rumor quite a bit in the past. I even heard that the guys who own Thrillville were at the Gravity Grouop booth at the IAAPA show, but I never believe anything until I hear it. I'd love to see Thrillville get a woodie, than I would think about stopping by on my way to Enchanted Forest.

Aaron

But the Gravity Group didn't *have* a booth at IAAPA this year.

Joe, who can't wait for The Great Northwest Trip later this year! Thrill-Ville included :)

What TV doesn't want a woodie?;) But their treatment of the Jet Star from SCBB, known in TV land as The Ripper, leaves much to be desired. Plus the place needs a basic infra-structure first, like plumbing instead of a P-A-P. The past few years, the park has soley added up-charge attractions for thrillseekers, like Turbo Force, Slingshot, Scad Dive, etc. There was talk of a woodie going in right next door at Enchanted Forest, but they are no longer interested........

There used to be a wooden coaster at Jantzen Beach called the Big Dipper. It was built by Carl Phare,of PNE Coaster fame,in 1928 and demolished in July 1970.I never got to ride this one,but remember seeing it as a child. Photos of this coaster can be seen at www.pdxhistory.com.
Also,Oaks Park had a Harry Traver woodie called the Zip from 1926 to 1934.This was a predecessor to the Cyclone triplets.Photos of this coaster can be found in the "Harry Traver,Legends of Terror"book for those of you forunate enough to possess one.

Wow! What a gorgeous park!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love the trolley winding it's way up, the observation tower with the Cascades in the back, and the coaster that circles the park. Boy, if I were a gazillionair, MY Never Neverland would resemble THIS park...and my logo would NOT feature a sad looking baby. :)

Eric, you should check out the pics of the Seattle park, Luna Park as well... What were the various city councils thinking when they closed these beauties??? :(

According to Ed Roberts,GM of Thrillville, this is not to be.:( This was probably confused with the new EV Timberhawk. But then maybe they are trying to keep quiet about this.

I can tell you a little about Enchanted Forest and the woodie. We talked to Mavis Tofte (wife of park builder Roger Tofte) at the Oregon state fair last year. She said they had looked into a woodie, but the maintainence was too much for them to handle "at this time". We then asked about a new dark ride (another rumor I had heard) and she said they were looking into one, but what they were more interested in was a water ride that would let you "shoot at targets". This could be a few different things, but maybe a water Sally dark ride or a Super Saturator type coaster. Who knows. She was very nice and open about everything though, as they always are at EF.

PS This conversation took place last summer, so something could have changed since then.
