New Virginia laws.......

At PKD yesterday, I noticed on several rides, a sticker attatched to the posts at quee stating that effective July 1, 2002, that riders were subject to comply or face criminal(?), misdemeanor charges for not following ride op instructions & warnings. It's short & vague, but says their laws were going into effect. Similar to what I saw in Ohio & sounds kinda along the lines of what's in PENN.
Good thing, IMO, but I hadn't noticed it before, & it's vague. Maybe their laws will be posted out front? Anyways, it's a good thing.

That could be kind of vauge at PKD because I noticed on my last trip there that on some of the coasters, the operators did not tell you anything, nor was there any kind of recorded message. They just checked your restraint and dispatched the train without a word. Of course, most people know the common rules, but still....if you are going to enact a law like that, a park needs to train the operators to do what they are supposed to do and enforce it.

By vague, I meant the notice did not give any indication of exactly what the law was to entail, just that there was to be a law that will make riders responsible for their actions. I'm curious as to "how far" it goes, but a good thing nonetheless, IMO.

But I'm with you, if people do not have somebody yelling at them to stay off the handrails, they will be on the handrails. I've found PKD to be extremely famous for that, & the guests act as if it's terrible for the op to make 'em hop down. Many rides, especially Grizzly which I believe they've instructed the ops NOT to make any kind of communications with riders, it IS the silent treatment. PKD definately needs to enforce, just like you say. They check your restraint & off you go. They seem to be, many of them, generally burnt out on the people. Not that I wouldn't if I were in their shoes, but ops at other parks, mainly BGW, seem so much more less POed to the public.

BTW, PKD doesn't mind people sitting "on the bottom rail". What? It still makes the things loose! That's an expense & upkeep that's avoidable, people shouldn't ever sit on those things. But, that's something different all together.
