New Vekoma Formula 1 coaster design

Click www.vekoma.com then product showcase, then recent innovations, finally click on LSM (No direct link available).

Viola! A computer rendering of a F1 'car'. Very cool. The other pics are of Superman The Ride at SFH. There was an image of the F1 in action, not there anymore. Not to worry, just click on the movie camera icon to view an animation.

One word; WOW! Definitely for speed freaks like me. Triple-digit mph readings come to mind, 100mph. Can we hope for 200mph+??

Note the Vekoma Logo on the overbridge and completely new track design. Looks like this track design will allow the car tyres to actually run on the road. Perhaps have a real V12 Engine propel the car? Wishful thinking as too much maintenance required plus this why else would the F1 be in the LSM section of the site?? You can be sure that LSMs will be dotted along the WHOLE track.

A note on 200mph+ speeds; while this is possible, would require lots of maintenance plus the electricity bill would be huge! The only way I can think of overcoming the problems of friction is to run the cars on maglev track - magnetically levitated, therefore no friction.

Instead of a single track, have 'racing' tracks, pun intended. Also, no OTSRs!! Put up those hands fellow buzzers!

Be sure to check out the Cliffhanger animation in 'Upcoming Innovations.' Looks like fun. Also the Product Reference List is very interesting as it lists ALL the coasters by Vekoma. (Rock 'n' Rollercoaster is not on the list, what gives??) There is no info on the 'Giant Boomerang' yet. Damn.

A final and very important point to me is that coasters are designed with the general public in mind. Therefore there are no extreme coasters available. I was thinking that with LSM coasters like the F1, why not turbocharge the LSMs into overdrive for enthusiasts like us? If the norm is 100mph, turbo to 150mph and from 3Gs to 5Gs.
Whatever happened to Premier's 200mph 'Bullet Coaster' design??

It's 3:35AM Monday morning and there are over 100 people buzzing. What gives??? *Slaps face* Of course, it's 11:35AM SUNDAY morning on the East Coast of the US of A!

For those under 18, is is school holidays or vacation as you guys call it?

Actually it's referred to 'Spring Break', 'Winter Break', and either 'Summer Break' or 'Summer Vacation' where I am at. English(Brits) people refer to vacations as holidays if I am not mistaken.

Anyone care to make more comments?

Wow, that actually looks really cool. The tires are kind of big, though. They'd have to use thick track to get it to work. Looks very light and air resistant, though.
In 2002 parks can order LSM on all the rollercoastertypes of Vekoma (SLC, looping, Flying (MK1200) and non-looping, Hyper (MK900).
I thought Sit-Downs like Boomerangs and customs i.e. Loop Corkscrews were MK1200.

LIM/LSMs can be put ANYWHERE on the track, at the top of an inversion or in the middle of the ride for example. Why have none of the manufacturers done this? Well, Premier have done this with Speed: The Ride and their Shuttle Coasters have LIMs at both ends.

LIMs are also at the end of the Premier shuttles for braking, I'm sure if something was to be moving as fast as you're talking about (anything triple in dibits) this would be a preferred brake (?).

As far as turning it up for the enthusiast, how much of an expense would a system be that could time all the "firing" necessary to propel the rides to different speeds? Besides, the second the general public knew someone was up to something, they would instantly feel cheated and turn to the dark side.......

Haven't done a launched ride (LIM style) yet, but I am fascinated with the little magnets and the possibilities for magic :). I know this is going to sound stupid, but I've had dreams where everything worked off LIM. From cars to my door, there's always something moving or stopping by itself.
LOL! Good one p_c_r about the dark side. The GP feeling cheated? Good!! They know nothing about coasters and talk b.s. about them. Coasters are designed with the GP in mind, NOT us coaster freaks as argued in my topic.
