I saw the new Vacation movie, and felt kind of let down that there was not much focus on Wally World. I thought the story was going down a road that made it not so family friendly. The only thing that rang true, is watching the Griswalds wait in line for a fictional coaster, and having the wait change to 2 more hours as they were waiting.
I think they went out of their way to put in more gags and crazy accidents, then to come out with a decent story. It seems that movie producers are rushing too quick to cash in on movies that had a good following. Didn't really care for it.
I didn't do it! I swear!!
I can't believe the movie tickets cost so much more when they deliver practically the same plot.

Was that wait time increase due to the inclusion of Fast Lane riders?

This is what we jokingly refer to as a flight movie. I wouldn't pay money to see in a theatre, rent or download but would check out if stuck in a seat for 4 hours and it was an entertainment option. Might stream it on Netflix if it showed up but I saw this on a flight. It was more entertaining than expected and I laughed several times. But it was ultimately another forgettable remake that was sort of a sequel with a weird focus on toilet humour.
Possible spoiler ahead if you care about what coaster is used in the film:
It was odd that they used a CGI'd up Ninja at SFOG as the big event coaster in the film.
Actually Sirloindude, a pay to cut was part of the story. I won't spoil it, but I think what happens in the movie, will give most people a good feeling, as how a majority feel about pay to cut programs.

I enjoyed the movie but of course nothing compares to the original. I particularly liked the part where they played into the "this vacation is different than the last vacation" thing. It was definitely way raunchier than the original. Not so sure that should have been necessary but it seems everything is these days.

My two cents...
It's a different pop culture world these days. When the original movie came out, there were three networks airing shows like Benson, Dynasty and Mama's Family and popular movies like Flashdance and Trading Places didn't cost $100 million to make nor did they need to make $100 of millions to be profitable.
Today, there are approximately one gazbillion networks, cable channels and streaming services airing shows like Orange Is The New Black, Game Of Thrones and How To Get Away With Murder, and Hollywood studios churn out remakes, retreads and sequels that are often far more violent than would have ever made it out of Hollywood back in the '80s.
I suspect the raunch factor was dialed up in order to remain "relevant" in today's market.

I think the movie would have been far better without being overly trashy. I also found the bag over the head thing very disturbing. What little kid is not going to try that on their brother or sister after seeing it done on film. All I know, is I was hoping that little brat would take a big hit to the nuts, or better yet, at the end of the movie have the trucker show up, and the family tells him. he's all yours...but, give him back to us when you're done. be gentle...or not.
The original vacation also had sexual content, but it was more relayed in words, then actually shown. Like the bop your baloney or the french kiss, where daddy does it best. Then of course there is the intentional dog murderer!! Lots of nasty stuff going on there, without having to give us a visual. And, I think because you didn't really think too much about what it meant, it made those scenes more funny.
The scene with the accident with the girl in the car was stolen from family guy. But, since Family guy stole it from the original vacation, I guess it's ok.

It's rated R, for F's sake.
I haven't seen the movie, but when I do see it, if the trucker that Timber Rider is talking about turns out to be a pedophile, I am going to be extremely disturbed by his last post.

Did it bother anyone else that the youngest child swore like a sailor and got little to no discipline?
I realize this comment might be unpopular, and sure it's only a movie, but it struck the wrong cord for me.
Okay, I did a search and found out that Norman Reedus plays the truck driver, and yes, he turns out to be a pedo. I will stop taking up for Timber Rider from now on.

Yeah, the younger brat bothered me too. I'm working in classrooms just full of kids like that and it's just so draining. I don't know how many times this school year or even really just this past week I've thought about what a rude awakening half of the kids I'm working with at the moment would have if suddenly tomorrow I was their mother.
Oh, I've often said if I had thought of even half the things kids do now I'd STILL be layin' out somewhere trying to figure out how to get up.

The tickets cost more so the theaters in Ohio, California and North/South Carolina could get better sound systems, cushier seats and digital projectors. The theaters in Michigan jacked up the price of popcorn.
