Hi everyone, I thought it was so cool when I found this site. I am a late bloomer I guess when it comes to Coasters, my first one was back when I was a teenager when I rode the Zingo in Tulsa, now here I am at 40 and Wildfire at Silver Dollar City became my first steel coaster, that first time what a bunch of emotions, a friend introduced me to it, after I got off I wasn't sure if I would get back on, by the 3rd time WOW I was hooked, its been a year since then I have rode Wildfire 55 times now, several times at night which really ROCKED! I had a couple of really erie rides in December when I had a day off from work and rode Wildfire 2 times back to back on the front row all alone, it was really wild being on there and not hearing a sound except for the coaster itself, it was cool though. So here I am sitting and waiting for Spring so I can break in my "All City Pass" at Silver Dollar City and Celebration City, its going to be a fun year, I noticed there are some other folks on here that are also in this part of the country (I live in Joplin, MO) where is everyone else from?
I do have a question for you experts out there :) Wildfire being my first real experience I am wondering how will it compare to other experiences on other coasters, I am curious because I am making plans to go to Cedar Point to do the Top Thrill Dragster, since I have been a long time drag racing fan this is such a cool thing 2 of my favorite things linked together like this. Its wild when I look at that photos of it, I was just blown away the first time I was on Wildfire at the height of it and yet Top Thrill Dragster is well WAY up there.
Looking forward to chatting with everyone, its so cool to see so many that love coasters too, may our coaster seasons start soon,
Dwane
Well, welcome to Coasterbuzz Dwane. I hope you find this site informative and fun. Sometimes even funny when some of the people on this site fight about pointless things. (its quite amusing) As for Wildfire, I would have to say that that is one of the greatest coasters that B&M has built. I have ridden many B&M's from California all the way to Pennsylvania, and that is still one of the best. If you want a rush though, head down to Islands Of Adventure in Orlando, FL. and ride Incredible Hulk. It blasts you out of a tunnel at the top of a hill, and straight into something called a zero g roll (Wildfire doesnt have one). There are tons of sites for you to explore to figure out all the elements, manufacturers, designers, and planely just coaster enthusiast sites. If you need any additional information email me at holmanlee@godseyconsulting.com and I will be happy to answer any further questions you may have.
Thanks,
Lee

Welcome to the Buzz. Nice to have you. I'm sure Wildfire is great, but I bet TTD will top it in every single way.
The only thing Wildfire has that TTD doesn't is loops. I guess going 400ft. into the air will make you forget about that though!

Hi Dwane! Welcome to Coasterbuzz! I have yet to ride Wildfire, but have managed to snag about 300 others ;) You are in for a real treat next year with the woodie Celebration City is getting. I will be visiting Branson for the first time next year because of it. Oh, about your CP trip....plan for 2 days, especially this year, and especially if you haven't been there.....also stay at an on site resort, it's worth it for the perks.
Oh, and for good coaster pictures, be sure to visit www.CoasterGallery.com :) ;)

Hey all,
Thanks for welcome and info, very cool. Its good to know that Wildfire rates up there with the best that B&M has ever built it just amazes me how smooth it is, sounds like it was a great introduction for me into the world of coasters :) Hey Lee thanks for the insights, your right there are tons of sights I am still finding them all its great how so many people are on here for the love of coasters, the Hulk sounds very cool by the way and I'll email you sometime.
Yes indeed TTD doesnt have loops but your right Rentzy387 at 400 feet who cares. Funny you mentioning the loops though, makes me remember I got to where I was turning my head to the side during the loops to watch the horizon turn over, that was fun.
Hey Peabody, thanks for the info, I am looking forward to riding the Wildcat. If you need any info or anything on your Branson trip just email me at loves_to_rock64801@yahoo.com who knows maybe we can hook up for a lap or 2. Looks like I had the right idea on my CP trip cause I wondered if I shouldn't plan on a 2 day trip.
Oh and I will work on my pointless fighting Marimbaguy LOL ;)

I haven't been on Wildfire, but pollwise, it's not really that high (60th on Mitch's this year).
The B&M hypers (at least stateside) are darn sweet: Apollo's Chariot, Busch Gardens Williamsburg (Williamsburg VA); Nitro, Six Flags Great Adventure (Jackson NJ); Raging Bull, Six Flags Great America (Gurnee IL).
I do think IOA has the best trio of B&M's and BGT and SWO have their own really awesome rides. I also really like Talon at Dorney, but any coaster is a good coaster. ;)

Dwane: lots of good clubs also where you can meet other coaster fans, get exclusive ride time and other benefits. American Coaster Enthusiasts is going to have a regional event at the new Celebration City sometime May.

Hi Dwane, welcome. I'm pretty new too. I'll be asking plenty of what probably seem to be dumb questions to others who know a lot, but I love to learn about the rides and the industry and people have been pretty great and patient with me so far so don't be afraid to ask what ever you want to know.
Can you tell me a little bit about Silver Dollar City. I don't think it would be that far of a trip for me so i'd like to maybe check it out. What is the park like? rides / scenery? other things to do? things to do in the area? Thank you Dwane (or anyone else who has been there)

Welcome Dwane!! I'm glad to see another MO-coaster fan!
CP Silly, I live in Springfield, and Silver Dollar City is the second most beautiful park I have ever seen, if not, it is ties with my experience at BGW.(another beautiful park) SDC goes overboard on themeing. All of their rides are kept is perfect condition. there is probably a ratio of 2 shows for every ride though:( Or so it seems like to me anyway. Branson is a great city, and it is only going to get better with the Construction of Celebration City almost complete. They are predicting near 9.5 to 10 million visitors this year (the city, not the park) The Ozark Wildcat is going to be an awesome coaster. SDC, Inc. (HFE) is second to Disney in my opinion.
As for Wildfire, out of the coasters I have ridden it is around 3rd, behind Hulk and Millenium Force(300, need I say more?) I think that it does not get the respect that it deserves because of it's location. If it was at any 'bigger' more exposed park, I think that it would be a lot higher, but that is just my opinion.

Hey everyone,
Peabody: I hadn't thought about any other parks on my CP trip although I have been pondering some other short trips this summer to Kansas City, St Louis, Dallas and San Antonio But who knows between the trip to CP and having Silver Dollar City and Celebration City close by I should be plenty busy. Sounds like I need to plan a trip to Florida someday to check out the Hulk, it sounds wild.
Jim: thanks for the club info, the get togethers sound like fun, what a deal ACE had an event at Silver Dollar City on a day that I was there and I didn't know it (shame on me for not looking up this stuff on the internet sooner!).
CP Silly: Welcome to you too and the people are great aren't they! Its all so interesting and fun. You should love Silver Dollar City, clean, very interesting, lots to do, good food, well run and lots of atmosphere and scenery is wonderful! Oh and remember they do have that item called Wildfire :) ThunderNaTion is also a fun ride along with all the others, now we have Celebration City to top off a great day, its going to be a blast! As far as things in the area, there are many things, it all depends on the types of things you like to do.
Hey Coasterbill, You don't live that far away, I get to Springfield quite a bit too (I should probably just move there to be closer to SDC!), it sure is going to be fun this year with SDC and Celebration City to go to, my All City Pass is already burning to get out of my wallet LOL.
Dwane
Hey if you like WILDFIRE - then you are OK in my book. Also it's nice to see another "good 'ole boy" from the mighty MO posting on here. Always can use another hand in war against "the east (or west) coast is so much better than anywhere else" battle. :)
Hey have you joined ACE? If not, you ought to. We have a great region here that is based out of Missouri, pretty much. We had an event not that long ago in December at SDC.
Welcome to the club, and hold on - it's a bumpy ride at times. :)

Dwane.. Welcome, and don't worry the ride is not as rough as you think.. (Swoosh don't scare him.)
Just research before you post questions my friend, and you will be just fine !

Florida is also a good place to start for a coaster enthusiast, and like many have said, IOA is amazing. Also make sure to hit Seaworld and ride Kraken. It is probably the smoothest coaster I have been on and with 7 inversions and a great ending it is surely something you don't want to pass by.
Never been to Cedar Point (sort of puts me in the minority of the members of the site) but I'm sure it's a coaster enthusiast's paradise.
