New TR:TR Sequence?

Quick question, when I rode TR, the left the middle row empty every time. Why?

I had heard, not from any official sources, that some of the seat sensors in that row were giving the ride problems (detecting open seats that weren't open). That was totally third hand, but reasonable enough to consider.

How long will it be before PKI *completely* rehabs TR:TR into a completely new ride, a la Phantom Theater/Scooby? Has the discussion been raised? It won't be too long before people don't know what Tomb Raider is.

/then again, how many high schoolers know what Face/Off is?

I would think Tomb Raider won't be changed for at least ten years, if not a lot longer. There are still people who don't know that Flight of Fear is a roller coaster, even after riding it. Considering FOF has been the same since opening ( aside from new restraints ) I don't think TR:TR will be going anywhere anytime soon with its multiple ride-program capabilities.

As far as a re-vamp of the themeing alone, leaving the Giant Top Spin, that could be a little sooner, but I'd still be willing to bet around ten years.

I've heard that same report directly from a technition who works at PKI, and quite often on TRTR. It's true.

No its not from the seat sensors, the middle rows were not used due to weight. We had a problem with the brakes stopping the gondola during the final top spin at the end of the ride.
I have a hard time believing your credibility.... Although you did know about the weight issue, too.

Trust my credibility, I worked on the mech 2 crew. I should be torcking bolts, cleaning, greasing the go no go bars and sawtouth bars on the restaints..... But I don't work there anymore...........Lets see what else I would be doing.... Climbing Vortex and Flight of fear looking for stress cracks. Doing winter maintenance on action theater, working on zepher seats, log flume boats and touch ups on white water canyon boats.... Well thats what I did last winter atleast..... Oh and one last thing I can have Huss thank me which they did for making the seat head rest come off easier for inspection, just cut a little off a few tabs and there you go. Mech one did the same thing on delirum once the seats came in and Huss and I showed them.

"Torcking?"

Exactly what I was thinking.

oops torque sorry long night last night with my pregnant wife.
What is the purpose of the control room on Tomb Raider?

There's an operator's booth that the ride op sits in, and an electrical room that houses the ride's control system.

I don't know if extending the ride sequence would be very wise. It's already nearly three minutes from start to finish, one of the longest non-coasters in the park. Making it longer will only make the line grow.

I think the best thing to do is eliminate some of the dead time at the beginning of the cycle. All the ride does for nearly a minute is move forward, swing, move up, sit in front of the Durga image, then finally start hauling. Granted, I think the beginning effects are pretty cool, but i think it could be modified to be a little quicker at the start, then move into the sequence that already exists. I really like the lava pit-back flip-top spin sequence.

I don't think the ride time would be changed very much, just the sequence.

I agree that there are certain parts to the ride sequence that need a little work. I enjoy the beginning, especially the swinging sensation. It lures you into a sense of "Oh this won't be so bad" but then it really hits you when the Durga gets mad. I can deal with the long ice scene and VERY long fire scene, but the one thing I can't stand about Tomb Raider is the ending. Everything else can stay, but the ending needs to go! Even if the gondola just did one final spin before the lights go out would be better than nothing. Of course, what I'd really like to see is the entire ride do one more rotation, all special effects to the max, and you come to a hault to hear Laura Croft say "Absolutely."
