New Son of Beast trains are on track

KICentral.com has photos of Son of Beast with its new Gerstlauer trains at Kings Island. Wednesday the ride was being tested with these trains. The park has not made an announcement about the coaster re-opening.

Are the trains really going to be just six rows long? I sure hope not, or those will be some seriously long lines.

^Maybe KI decided that since SOB always had pretty short lines that it really wouldn't matter. But I can defenitely see a problem here! :(*** This post was edited by DantheCoasterman 6/23/2007 2:53:00 PM ***
Surely they are just testing with smaller trains to make it easier to pull through.
YEAH - I'm so happy rite now!
I might have missed it, but what did they do with the section where the loop was removed? Did they just connect it to the other side, or have they even done anything yet?
ROUND TWO!
DING!!!!!!!!

TPR has pics of them testing using 6 cars per train. The poster says that the train is stalled right at the top of a big turn.

I have faith that these folks know more about what they're doing than I would but still...

Just seeing these things on the track looks like white hot death to me.

You've been around long enough to know better than that... ;)

Generally, I think the parks do a better job than enthusuasts would in terms of keeping their eyes focused on profitability. Spending the kind of money they've spent, and are spending, on Sonny - with HC5's Gerstlauers? I gotta give the nod to the opposing viewpoint on this one... ;)

I was at the park today and the train in the station appeared to have more trains then what we see in the pictures. All though there was no activity at all today around SOB (at least not in the afternoon)

You mean cars instead of the second "trains."
This merger between SOB and Gerstlauer is a serious lawsuit just waiting to happen. Hell I simply refuse to ever step foot into Wild Adventures ever again until they get rid of the frickin trains on Cheetah, and that coaster does nowhere near the kind of speed that SOB does.

^HEY! I love Cheetah! :)
I love Cheetah too! But yeah, those trains gotta go! that ride would be soooooo much better with ptcs or flyers (of course!). The layout is outstanding!

I just came off a long coaster trip, and it seems that yep, the G trains are still pretty crappy on any ride.

it's pretty fascinating how stupid the parks - or whoever is in charge of making these decisions - they keep doing stupid things. ptc's would actually probably run pretty ok on SOB - but either way, major re tracking needs to occur. There were some nasty angles in parts of the track, like angles that weren't supposed to be there. and removing the best and most unique part of the ride, the loop, too bad...

Hey! My father rode Cheetah shortly after it opened. He told me that the park was relatively dead, and he got to ride it a couple of dozen times, at least once in every seat, and he absolutely loved it. Fastforward 2 seasons, and now we're both at WA, and I'm taking my first of only 2 rides on Cheetah. My fathers opinion after 2 seasons of operation, for this coaster, is now somewhat less flaterring than when he rode it previously. My opinion, pure unadulterated crap. There wasn't a spot on the ride where I was able to keep myself still, in the seat, and I really wanted to.

Pain the whole way through, and now these same type of trains will run on the one coaster, SOB, that everyone admits was painful even before the introduction of these Gerstlauers. I see this being the end of SOB after one season with these trains.

Those trains look painful already. :(
They were testing when I was there on Wednesday for C Con and it kept getting stuck on the helixes. I later watched them pull it through from the top of the Eiffle tower
