new rides at Knoebels

does anyone know what Knoebels has new this year? i know that the water slides got a makeover and that a few small rides have been added over the past few years but nothing major (with the exception of Twister which i was very dissapointed in [no airtime at all]). I'm visiting Knoebels at the end of July and i'd love to see a new attraction but that park seems to add to itself very incosistently. Anyone know anything?

Twister wasn't designed to be an airtime machine, neither was the original it was inspired by. You can get more air than you deserve a few hundred feet away......Twister is a lateral machine, though I have felt pops in a couple places. It certainly shows Knoebels' ability to build a great wooden coaster in-house.

You're right about the new improvements this year. Slides, and some attractions at the children's play area, are the main installments, plus some cosmetic upgrades. This, believe it or not, is still an important step. Don't look for a big new thrill this year, or perhaps even next. They don't necessarily need one right now. I found plenty to do. :)

I got some serious ride time on Twister during the PhunPhest (esp. later on). It features a couple pops of air, most surprisingly the HOP onto the brakes (reminiscent of the hop onto GASM-I's station). But as Arrow Guy says, this is a lateral-filled romp! I fell in love with the Power Surge at KG, and was very happy to find out WA was getting one for the '02 season. Not every park is going to get a new coaster every year, but the successful small parks find other ways to improve their guests day while saving up for their next big investment....

...and thinking that Arrow Guy may *claim* that Phoenix has more airtime than I "deserve", but he doesn't realize that I really do "deserve" an enormous helping, and that Phoenix just delivers.....and delivers....and delivers.....:):):)

bill, lovin' the traditional parks....
