Vekoma Tilt coaster, dingy slide with water, and more...
Things to note
- the wooden coaster track in the first shot is the same as the Coaster Cam one.
- what's the round ride in the background of this shot: http://www.jeuxvideo.com/affpic.htm?images/pc/r/o/roc3pc040.jpg
- what's with the mid air rock in this shot? http://www.jeuxvideo.com/affpic.htm?images/pc/r/o/roc3pc047.jpg *** Edited 8/10/2004 6:40:03 PM UTC by Dale Picolet***
The one thing that still bothers me however is the track. The curved drops and other elements look terrible in 3d. If there is one thing that this game needs, its for the elements to have smooth transitions. This pictures just makes me crunge. http://www.jeuxvideo.com/affpic.htm?images/pc/r/o/roc3pc049.jpg
The rest of the scenery/rides and atmosphere looks amazing however.
I just hope the physics for the flat rides holds up to its real-life counterpart.
I'm still a little disappointed in the coasters, however, because of the lack of additional pieces to make the coasters a little more realistic (ie: more degrees of descent, banking... etc).
I did notice, obviously from the pics, that they did bring back the water dingy boat slide from the first 2... but no other signs of any true water rides. Hmm, I dont remember even seeing the river-raft, shoot-the-chutes, or log ride from any previous screens.
There's a vid out somewhere that shows the water jets on the top spin. It's amazing! The water shoots up, hits the ride, collects some, splashes back down, very realistic! The motion on both the water and the ride is as close to real as I imagine it can be.
copy and paste the link...(I forget how to make it show up right...) scroll down.
There's either a flume ride or a rapids track as well as some kind of splash effect on the dingy slide.
From what I've seen the transitions might look rough, but when riding they don't seem to bee too bad.
Some of my personal points of interest:
"RCT3 will deliver many more rides than were in RCT2, plus a number of these rides and coasters will be all new to the series, fresh from the real world drawing-boards of today's top rollercoaster designers. Additionally, most coasters previously in RCT1 & 2 have been enhanced with a wider variety of track pieces, for example banks...There are 48 different types of coaster tracks in-game and about 80 different types of cars. There are 28 different other track-based rides in the game, with about 40 different types of track-based cars."
Very interesting. Also:
"You can save out RollerCoaster track designs (of course), Scenarios, your Family groups including customized Peeps, Fireworks MixMaster™ displays, in-game videos, in-game photos / screenshots."
Hmmm. In-game video? Now we'll see people editing promo vids for their rides and parks. :) Also:
"Unfortunately importing your own scenery or any other 3D models into the game is a feature that will NOT be in the game when it is first released. There are some major issues involved with this, and we feel the time remaining before release will be better spent on other aspects of the game. However, once we have completed the game we WILL sit down and figure out what it would take to make that happen. Atari and Frontier believe strongly in the value of allowing the RollerCoaster Tycoon® community to modify and customize the game."
Veeeery interesting, especially with the tough approach they've taken in the past with trainers and such. Looks like they're really throwing up their hands and saying "Let's just try to give 'em what they want this time around"
At any rate, there's some good info over there - go check out the FAQ

It looks sort-of like a themed monster/octopus/spider ride.
Then again, it may just be the teacups.
So you can customize peeps, eh? It looks like I'll have parks full of Fairuza Balks instead of these idiots. Nice.

Awesome indeed. It'll be great to load these videos up in an editor and add custom music tracks. Imagining POV footage of your soaring inverted to Mozart.

Oh. Sorry. Didn't know anybody was there.
I'll be right back, I need to change my pants....
Oh, and it does answer the question about music. The answer was what I figured on anyhow.:)

Looks véry smooth imo.
That said, I cannot wait to see the Zipper in action. I wonder if it will have the same ominous, siren-like motor sound that the real ones have.
