Since I had put down who wrote it, who published it and the fact that it was sent to me in an email BY the newspaper, I thought I had the bases covered. Guess not.
Anyhoo, here is a link (after a lot of searching mind you) to the article on the web, not sure how much longer it will be up though.

I'm also confused by an 80 acre park that will be open in Nebraska all year. In that climate, all year operation would have to be indoors. Perhaps, they plan to put a small part indoors that will remain open all year.

That is great news! Finally we may get a park.
Wouldn't you think that Cedar Fair would buy the park more so than Six Flags?
Well maybe, but since they are looking at Adventureland (from what I hear) why would they want this one too? I mean they would be competing with themselves with lots of parks in the same neighborhood (WOF, VF, CS:MOA, and ADVLand)

The timing seems unrealistic when the location is not yet confirmed and no permits have been applied for.
About a year ago here in Cleveland, there was an article in the paper about how somewhere (not sure if it was in Cleveland) a crew was able to build an entire multilevel house completely in one day (not counting the basement/foundation) so anything is possible with coordination (so long as the cement is dry) :)

The building a house in a day trick has been done many times before. You spend 6 months getting the permits for the development in which the house stands. You also spend a lot of time putting in streets, sewers, water, and electricity. This often happens years before the house is built. You then spend several weeks getting the permits for the house. This is much easier than getting the permits for an amusement park. You also spend several weeks getting the materials together and organizing the job. You also use an abnormal foundation type or cheat and pour the concrete before hand since it takes time to cure. Finally the big day comes and in one day you "build" a house using about twice the labor cost that would normally be required since people are always in each other's way. Since your labor costs are high, you have to sell the house for less than it cost to build unless the labor was donated for charity as is often the case.
In short it's a trick not a real way to build something. It's like pulling quarters of a kid's ear. It's a neat trick, but it's not a way to make money.
Developers are always floating trial baloons like this, but most of them never happpen. I hope for the sake of Omaha enthusiasts the it does happen some day, but don't hold your breath.
