New Park for Houston?

There was an article recently (1-2 months ago) about a developer in Galveston looking to build an amusement park just a few miles north of the city of Galveston. I remember the article specifically pointing out that this would be ideal for the area with the absence of Astroworld.

Sounds like developers are well aware of the potential for a new amusement park for the Houston area. I think it will be just be a matter of time before the news of a new Houston area theme park hits the stands.

Actually I believe it was just some guy that worked in some small town in between Galveston and Houston.

He thought it was a good place for an amusement park company to look at. It was nothing more than that, just blown up to seem more interesting.

Apparently you missed the press release about the two other attractions-the Sally dark ride, and the Bahari River expansion at Holiday World. Holiday World clearly hasn't taken their eye off the ball.

While I'm sure that the Voyage will be good, don't jump to conclusions about a ride you've only virtually experienced (Sorry to all you No Limits people. Contrary to what you might think, you are not actually on a coaster:)). Even real pictures don't tell the whole tale. Remember all the hype about Timberhawk? Boy, did that die down fast once everyone rode it.

Remember, there's another large woodie being built at an east coast park that no one has ridden either. And if you look at who got number one in the wood poll this year, it's made by the same manufacturer.

to me nothing will replace astroworld, but a new park is not a bad idea! but whats the odds of that.

Timberhawk was designed as a family coaster but HW wants a record breaking airtime machine. Yes I do know about the Sally dark ride and the Bahari river expansion. True these are family rides but the point I was making is that HW isn't scared to include some world class thrills. Some parks want all family rides and ZERO world class thrills. A proper balance would be 60-70% family oriented attractions and 30-40% world class thrill rides. That way parks can still get the families they need for the big money but includes a few thrill rides to draw thrillseekers because thrillseekers STILL bring some money to the park they would not have otherwise if they complete ignore them. I really think Will should start a new park in that town between Houston and Galveston that wanted a park. He sure would run a park WAY better than anyone in the world! :-)
